One of the few films where Vinod Mehra had a bad part.
For Vinod Mehra, Kartavya was an incredible experience. He broke both his hand and foot during the process, in addition to marrying Meena.
The initial pick for Vinod Mehra’s position was Jeetendra. Jeetendra agreed, but he withdrew because he didn’t want to damage his reputation as a hero.
Movie review
The main character of the story is Ranjit Kumar (Dharmendra), a guy divided between his personal issues and his obligation as a law-abiding citizen. As the narrative progresses, Ranjit encounters several moral conundrums, and his choices eventually impact both his own and those around him. The movie uses its main concept of “duty” to boost the plot while combining drama and action.
Despite not being as popular or well-known as some other movies from the same era, Kartavya was praised for its sincere representation of morality and obligation. Although the film’s time and directing may have been better, Dharmendra and Hema Malini gave strong performances. Nevertheless, it continues to be a sincere attempt to examine social and moral issues in popular Bollywood films.
