Overall, Tehran is a good viewing for fans of geopolitical thrillers who are prepared to pay attention and follow a rich plot, according to Ronak Kotecha of The Times of India, who gave the movie a rating of 3.5 stars out of 5. Although it doesn’t always make sense, its realism, excellent acting, and fast-paced plot make it a compelling spy drama.
Firstpost’s Lachmi Deb Roy gave the movie a rating of three out of five, praising Abraham’s acting, the screenplay, the photography, and the way it depicted the geopolitical tension between Iran and Israel. She did point out, though, that some viewers might mistake the film for a documentary due to its slow-burning style.
The Indian Express’s Shubhra Gupta gave the movie a rating of 2.5 stars out of 5, writing that it’s remarkable what John Abraham, whose impassivity makes his character feel as real as it can when done with reel drama, manages to do here.
Bollywood Hungama gave the movie a rating of 2.5 stars out of 5, praising the action, costuming, visual effects, production design, and editing. Chhillar was underutilized, according to the assessment, and although Abraham performed admirably in action scenes, his emotional portrayal was deemed mediocre.
