Story of the film
London-based Nikita Roy is a well-known writer and rationalist. As a member of the International Rationalist Committee (IRC), she focuses on disproving superstitions, myths, and “godmen.” Her mentor and fellow rationalist brother, Sanal Roy, is researching Amar Dev, a potent spiritual guru.
Sanal disappears while looking into Amar Dev’s cult, the “Tru Faith Foundation.” When he is eventually discovered dead, the police determine that he committed suicide. Nikita finds it hard to accept that her brother, a man of reason and science, would commit suicide. She is certain that Amar Dev killed him to keep his secrets safe.
To take over Sanal’s inquiry, Nikita travels to London. Jolly, her former boyfriend and fellow detective, helps her. Amar Dev is a serene, ominous character who says he can heal people by taking in their “darkness.” He challenges Nikita when she confronts him, saying he will give up if she can show he is a phony within a certain amount of time (usually stated as a few days or a week). If not, she will have to deal with the fallout from her doubts.
Nikita’s reliance on reason starts to falter as she delves further. She begins to have inexplicable paranormal experiences, such as shadowy figures, odd noises, and images of her brother. She finds Freya, an informant who was a mole in the cult, but Freya kills herself horribly in front of them, apparently driven insane by a “curse.”
Nikita approaches Amar Dev at his ashram in the conclusion. The movie shows that Sanal was psychologically damaged by Amar Dev’s techniques rather than simply dying. Nikita discovers that she is falling into the same “trap” as her brother, which is a combination of reality distortion and hallucinations created by the cult. Like her brother, Nikita was overcome by the darkness (irrationality and dread) as she worked to reveal the “Book of Darkness”—the literal or metaphorical secrets of the cult. The disturbing notion that faith—or the manipulation of it—can be more potent than reason is how the movie ends.
Production
Kussh Sinha, the brother of Sonakshi Sinha, who also plays the lead part, and the son of actor Shatrughan Sinha, makes his directorial debut in this movie. Filming for the project, which was first announced in 2022, took place mostly in the United Kingdom, notably in Watford, Hertfordshire.

Review
Firstpost’s Vinamra Mathur rated the movie two stars out of five, saying that it smelled of pretense from start to finish and that phony accents and poor dubbing further tarnished the story’s promise.
Moneycontrol’s Sarika Sharma gave it three out of five stars, praising its effort to examine the conflict between superstition and reason. “Sonakshi Sinha carries the film with conviction, and the atmospheric cinematography creates a haunting vibe,” the author stated. However, key emotional beats are weak, and the story feels hurried.
The Times of India’s Renuka Vyavahare gave the movie three out of five stars, saying, “The film’s strength lies in its restrained approach to the horror-thriller genre, avoiding clichés of mainstream Bollywood.” However, it falls short of its full potential due to the hasty investigation sequences and shallow character development. For those who enjoy suspense and mystery, it’s worth watching.
Bollywood Hungama rated the movie 1.5 stars out of 5, saying that although both the original and adapted stories had considerable potential, the screenplay and direction were subpar.
