Madgaon Express Movie is a Bollywood Hindi Drama and dark comedy film written and directed by Kunal Khemu in his first directing role, with Excel Entertainment serving as the producer. Divyenndu, Pratik Gandhi, Avinash Tiwary, Nora Fatehi, Upendra Limaye, and Chhaya Kadam are among the big star cast.

After receiving favorable reviews from reviewers, Madgaon Express premiered in theaters on March 22, 2024, and made ₹48 crore globally.

The movie’s soundtrack is composed by Sharib-Toshi, Ankur Tewari, Kunal Khemu, Sagar Desai, Sameer Uddin, and Ajay-Atul. Kumaar, Kalim Sheikh, and Kunal Khemu wrote the lyrics.

Ajay-Atul wrote the song “Baby Bring It On” for the 2016 Marathi film Jaundya Na Balasaheb, which was remade with the same title.

Story of the film

When Dhanush “Dodo” Sawant, Pratik “Pinku” Garodia, and Ayush Gupta were in the tenth grade in Mumbai in 1998, they had aspirations of traveling to Goa following their board exams. They can not because their parents do not want them to. Following graduation in 2003, the buddies once more organized a trip, but the automobile was involved in an accident as soon as they set out. The proposal gets pushed to the back burner once more.

Ayush relocates to New York City, and Pinku to Cape Town, a few years later. As Pinku and Ayush achieve success in life, their compensation package also rises. Dodo is unable to maintain stable employment in the meantime, but he stays in touch with Pinku and Ayush on social media and observes that they have amassed a substantial fortune. Dodo fabricates pictures and presents a false impression that he lives in a penthouse and has an opulent lifestyle by using editing software.

Pinku and Ayush decide to take a plane to Mumbai in 2015. They let Dodo know about it and promise to remain at his “penthouse.” Dodo becomes agitated and advises the three of them to carry out their Goa trip plan as soon as they land. Ayush and Pinku concur. Dodo purchases three tickets on the Madgaon Express train as he cannot afford the pricey airline tickets. Although Pinku and Ayush detest the thought, they agree to return solely via plane. Pinku’s luggage is swapped with another man’s bag that looks similar before they board the train. The key to a hotel room, a pistol, and a large sum of money are found in the bag. After debating among themselves what to do with the bag, they decided to throw it away.

When they arrive at their location, they immediately take a taxi to the beach. They drink together and spend the night with prostitutes at a hotel after a drug dealer (Khemu) provides them with hallucinogenic drug tablets. Ayush is angry with Dodo for bringing prostitutes with them since he did not want to cheat on his long-distance internet lover, Nisha, when he woke up the following morning. Dodo acknowledges that he had surreptitiously taken the cash and hotel room key from the stranger’s luggage and taken them to the same hotel room. This infuriates Pinku and Ayush, and during a fight, they find a cocaine stockpile concealed beneath the bed when Pinku collapses violently on top of it. Later, a female thug named Kanchan Kombdi shows up with her group and confuses Ayush for Ganapath, whose bag was traded with Pinku.

When Kanchan Kombdi invites him to visit her at her house, her gang encircles the hotel grounds. The three sneak out of the building by leaping out of the window. When Pinku is given a lot of cocaine, he starts acting abnormally. They start looking for a physician who can treat Pinku. A young woman named Tasha greets them and offers to assist. She then brings them to see Dr. Danny, who administers an injection that cures Pinku. It turns out that Mendoza Bhai, a vicious mobster, is the owner of the cocaine discovered in the hotel room. The three are startled to find that the cocaine is gone when they go back to the motel. When the cops show up, they flee the scene. When Ganapath arrives at the hotel, he is upset to discover that the cocaine he had concealed beneath the bed is gone. Inside his suitcase, he finds Pinku’s cellphone, which has text messages from his girlfriend, Mariam.

Ayush and Pinku accuse Dodo of being the cause of their entire situation, claiming that they do not believe him and that everything he says seems false. Dodo acknowledges that the pictures he shared on social media were phony and that he is not as wealthy as the two of them. To prevent them from feeling ashamed to have him as a friend, Dodo explains that he felt like a “nobody” and took this action. The two say they will forgive Dodo and that Dodo will always be their buddy. It is revealed that Mendoza Bhai and Kanchan Kombdi were formerly married and in love, but that they became competitors after Mendoza Bhai fell in love and wed a foreign lady In retaliation against Mendoza Bhai, Kanchan Kombdi had discovered the cocaine in the hotel room and had taken it intending to sell it and make money. It turns out that Ganapath is indeed a part of Mendoza Bhai’s gang, but he is also covertly collaborating with Kanchan Kombdi.

When the three decide to leave Goa, they find that the police are searching for them and that posters featuring their drawings are all over the place. Tasha calls Dodo and says she can assist them in getting out of the city and invites them to meet up. They arrive at the specified destination and learn that Tasha is being held captive by Mendoza Bhai, who has set them up to be sent there. Mendoza Bhai gives Dodo and Pinku instructions to disguise themselves as ladies and go to Kanchan Kombdi’s house to get the cocaine so they may fit in with her gang. Mendoza Bhai goes on to say that if Ayush and Tasha are unable to get the cocaine back, he will murder them.

After arriving at Kanchan Kombdi’s house, Dodo and Pinku start searching for the cocaine. Pinku’s finger gets cut during an incident after one of the gang members discovers who she is. A huge shootout breaks out as Danny, who is an undercover police officer, and his crew storm the location. With the cocaine, Dodo and Pinku can get out of the area. While Mendoza and his group are sleeping, Ayush and Tasha also manage to get away, and Tasha grows fond of Ayush. Together, the four want to eventually depart from the location. However, Ganapath calls Pinku to claim that he has held Mariam hostage and to demand that they return the cocaine and his money. They agree to return the things to Ganapath when they meet him on the Madgaon Express. They take the train the following day, and Ganapath and Mariam get there.

But Kanchan Kombdi and Mendoza Bhai also show up and insist on getting the cocaine back. They give the bag back to them, but it is empty of cocaine. It turned out that they had given the cocaine to the police and told them everything with Danny’s assistance. Mendoza Bhai, Kanchan Kombdi, and Ganapath are arrested by the police when they arrive, and they eventually depart Goa with Mariam. As a practical joke, Dodo tells Ayush before he boards his trip back to New York that his online lover, Nisha, is Dodo, who pretended to be a lady to talk with him online. Ayush is hurt by this, but he appears to forgive Dodo by hugging him before departing.

After a year, Mariam is introduced to Pinku’s mother, and the two decide to tie the knot. Dodo gets wealthy after winning a huge sum of money in a lottery. Tasha sends Ayush a friend request on social media, and Ayush deletes “Nisha” as a friend. Dodo arrives at Ayush’s residence all transformed and suggests that they travel to Las Vegas together.

On 22 March 2024, the Madgaon Express movie was released in theaters.

Review

The reviews that Madgaon Express received were favorable. 73% of the 11 reviewers’ reviews on the review aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes are favorable, with an average rating of 6.2/10.

Madgaon Express recognizes that its appeal is in its natural absurdity and then works around it as pure, unadulterated entertainment, which makes it immediately watchable, according to Mayur Sanap of Rediff.com, who gave it a rating of three out of five stars and received praise.

Madgaon Express is a crazy and ridiculous comedy of mistakes that hardly ever, if ever, takes a break, according to Saibal Chatterjee of NDTV, who gave the movie a 3/5 rating. The picture seamlessly and continuously switches between slapstick and brilliant silver-tongued wit, making it deliriously entertaining.

Shubhra Gupta of The Indian Express, on the other hand, rated it 1.5 stars out of 5 and said that too many of the jokes ended in a clunk. When the bad people are sleeping and the good men are trying to escape, a song line about not having fun tries to liven up the mood. Perhaps it was a synopsis of the whole film.
