Story of the film

Mala is a young teacher with grandiose aspirations for the future. She dreams of a magnificent love affair, complete with a lavish wedding and a stunning man who will show up on a horse. One day, Mala’s friend confides in her about her intimate relationship—which she had with the son of a wealthy man—and how she was getting married to someone else. Mala goes with her buddy to the man’s wedding, where she skillfully breaks things up and exposes the truth.

Mala slaps Raj, the groom’s buddy, for insulting her, which makes her furious. Seeking retribution, Raj tracks down Mala and, with her students watching, beats and sexually assaults her. With the assistance of her students, Mala, who is distressed and ashamed, makes it home to her startled family. When the police intervene, Raj is taken into custody.

Karthar Singh, Mala’s guardian, is bribed by Raj’s influential father Rai Bahadur in an attempt to hide the situation, but Singh declines to take the money. Mala is supported and is being defended in the court by Raj’s sister and brother-in-law. Raj is found guilty by the judge, who also mandates that he wed Mala within the next 24 hours as, in her opinion, no other man would be ready to marry her after her honor has been damaged.

After Raj’s failed attempt to assassinate Mala, they tie the knot in a low-key ceremony. Mala moves into Raj’s house after the marriage, and his family starts to mistreat her. In order to ensure that Mala is humiliated and abused and that she is ultimately forced out of their home, Rai Bahadur leaves for overseas and gives his family instructions on how to handle Mala. Sharda, Raj’s older sister-in-law, is particularly cruel to Mala since she schemes to get her own sister married to him because of his wealth.

Raj is duped by Sharda and her siblings into believing that Mala requested that they leave the house. Kartar Singh stops Raj from beating Mala when he tries to do so aggressively. Raj’s uncle arranges for the honeymoon and assures Mala that he will look out for her, but it turns out that he is also planning on killing her.

While Mala is taking a shower, Raj’s uncle leaves a snake inside the home. She passes out from panic when she sees the snake after dressing. The guys think she’s been bitten. Raj gets bitten by the snake on his leg as he is tending to Mala. Mala poisons herself in the act of waking up and saving him. Raj is horrified by Mala’s behavior and understands that he treated her improperly. Raj’s uncle advises him to let Mala die, but he contacts a doctor, and she gets better. His feelings for her begin to soften, and he resists his uncle’s attempts to sway him away from Mala. The pair begins to fall in love gradually.

Raj’s uncle and Sharda plan to murder Mala in the house with a gas explosion as payback. When Raj’s sister and brother-in-law arrive out of the blue, his sister enters the kitchen to ignite the stove, which kills her. When Rai Bahadur returns to India for his daughter’s burial, he and Raj get into a fight over Mala. Mala sustains serious injuries in an argument that breaks out when Raj decides to leave. She is in critical condition when Raj brings her to the hospital. After realizing how badly they had treated Mala, the family tells Rai Bahadur that they no longer wish to interact with him.

Rai Bahadur turns around and offers an apology. Raj tries to clear his father and place the blame on himself when the police show up to look into the situation, but Rai Bahadur takes responsibility. After Mala regains consciousness, she lies about the incident to rescue her father-in-law. Raj’s family accepts Mala after witnessing her compassionate nature, and the two are remarried in a lavish ceremony that fulfills Mala’s fantasies.
