Story of The Film
Lalit Malhotra (Anang Desai), the younger brother of J.K. Malhotra (Amrish Puri), has Raj Singh Puri (Jackie Shroff) as his best buddy. The Malhotras are affluent London business magnates. Because of his hectic schedule and opposition to his family’s avarice, Ronit (Hrithik Roshan) views his late “aunt” Shalini and “uncle” Raj as surrogate parents. Lalit and his wife Nalini (Supriya Karnik) have little time for their kid. A few years ago, Raj’s spouse Shalini (Rati Agnihotri) passed away in an accident, leaving Raj to raise their three kids by himself. Having grown up with Raj and his daughters, Ronit has kept close relations with them.
Raj’s second daughter, Saania, marries her boyfriend Sukant against Raj’s advice and in spite of glaring disparities in family values and upbringing. Raj’s eldest daughter, Avantika, is content in her arranged marriage to Ronit’s college mate, Pankaj. The youngest and strongest-willed, Isha (Kareena Kapoor), says she doesn’t think in love. Saania goes home pleading for a divorce from her in-laws after enduring their abuse and taunting for a few weeks, but she eventually makes up with Sukant. As all is going on, Isha and Ronit are in Malaysia attending a sporting event where their friendship unintentionally turns into love.
Both are unaware that Ronit’s parents are surreptitiously setting up his marriage to Monishka Rai (Kiran Rathod), the spoilt daughter of another business magnate, back in London with the goal of forming a business alliance between the two affluent families. The Malhotra family asks Raj, a longstanding friend of the Rai family, to assist them in arranging the marriage proposal. After being duped by the Malhotras into thinking Ronit would be content with the marriage, Raj accepts.
When Isha requests permission to marry Ronit, Raj is taken aback since he feels terrible about his allegiance to the Rai and Malhotra families. He hurts himself in an accident due to his overwhelming emotions, upsetting Isha. Raj, who acknowledges Isha’s emotions, tells her about Ronit’s upcoming engagement and adds that, because of the Malhotra family’s fixation with money, she would never be accepted as a daughter-in-law. Then, even though doing so severely wounds her, Isha breaks up with Ronit and acts as though she simply loves him as a friend. Both Raj and his parents put pressure on Ronit, who is distraught and furious, to wed Monishka.
After Ronit learns that Monishka and her parents’ lifestyles are completely at odds with the Malhotras’ own traditional Indian traditions, he bitterly agrees to the engagement. Raj then urges the Malhotras to reevaluate the arrangement. In the end, J.K. Malhotra accuses Raj of utilizing Isha as a means of gaining access to their affluent family and publicly insults him. Raj breaks off his relationship with the Malhotras, distraught.
Before the Malhotras and Rais announce their business merger on the eve of the engagement celebration, Ronit lashes out at his parents for having ignored his sentiments all his life. The Malhotras become alarmed when he and Isha make up and seem to elope. Ronit and Isha are persuaded to go back home by Raj when Nalini, who is the first to recognize their predicament, apologizes to him. At the engagement party, Ronit, with the help of Nalini and Monishka, makes a speech that exposes the families’ self-centered sacrifice of their children’s happiness for financial gain. The speech shocks the guests and forces the Rai family to call off the corporate merger. J.K. begs Raj and Isha’s pardon, and the Malhotras grant Ronit and Isha their blessing.
The movie concludes with a flashback that takes place a few years later, depicting an elderly Raj beside Avantika’s young daughter and suggesting that Raj’s three daughters are still close and have happy marriages.
Production
Ameesha Patel was first considered for the female lead role. She was unavailable for the movie, though. After that, Kareena Kapoor signed a deal, which led to her first of many roles opposite Hrithik Roshan. Later, Patel claimed that the movie was a box office bust and that she was fortunate not to have seen it.

Yaadein Movie Review:
This film review are Mostly Positive from Critics, IMDB Public Reviewing site give 4.4 Star Out Of 10 Star with Reviewers are 3224.
I don’t think that this movie should come under such harsh criticism.
The hype has probably killed the movie.
I don’t think that the movie was that bad. It was a good movie but the first half was quite inadequate. And had some really absurd cliches. The second half was quite engrossing.
Hrithik’s performance was his best to date. He really showed his histronics in this movie. He is a very capable actor apart from a good looker and a fantastic dancer. Kareena also showed that she is star material. Jackie also played his role well.
I think in all the hype killed the movie which is otherwise quite an entertaining movie.
Forget the hype and go see it as a non-hyped movie and you may come out of the cinema quite pleased.
Critics Rating by David Parkinson, from RadioTimes give 3 star out of 5 Star.
