The Killer is a 2006 Bollywood Hindi crime thriller film and directer is Hasnain Hyderabadwala and Raksha Mistry. This Film star’s cast is Emraan Hashmi, Irrfan Khan, and Nisha Kothari in the main roles.

The story revolves around an Indian taxi driver in Dubai, who seats a hitman in his taxi unknowingly. He must face the consequences by doing everything The Killer tells him to do, may it be a ride or a murder. The film was released on 21 July 2006 and managed to do average at the box office. It is an unofficial remake of Michael Mann’s action thriller, Collateral.

Story of the film

The narrative centers on a serial killer who murders his victims with the assistance of naive cab drivers. The murderous taxi driver who killed many persons in a few hours in Malaysia before crashing his vehicle and taking his own life has been brought to the attention of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), India. The same scenario occurred once more, this time in Hong Kong, where a second cab driver killed multiple people before himself. In Dubai, at this time it’s Nikhil Joshi (role-played by Emraan Hashmi), the cab driver.

Indian Nikhil, who is living the high life in Dubai, has a deep romantic attachment to Rhea, a cabaret dancer (Nisha Kothari). Both Rhea and he are prepared to go to any lengths for each other. But one night, a dapper businessman called Vikram (Irrfan Khan) hails a cab, and life has other ideas for him.

This charming traveler turns out to have a somewhat terrible motive of his own, Nikhil finds out. In an odd scheme to silence potential witnesses against the notorious don Jabbar (Zakir Hussain), who faces deportation to India to face charges, Vikram kidnaps Nikhil. Nikhil feels his life and his goals falling apart around him as he watches in helplessness as killing after killing occurs.

He tries to get Vikram to spare him and get a different taxi, but he keeps failing. He eventually takes the wheel of his life when faced with the possibility of losing everything he has been pursuing. As he puts his cunning against the perilous assassin, he ceases dreaming and begins acting.

Nikhil appears to be the main suspect as he murders people one after another. Vikram intends to kill him in his taxi and take off because of this. Nikhil, however, strikes back and puts his life in danger in a challenge to Vikram. Following many deaths of witnesses against Jabbar in the same evening, Nikhil is the target of a close investigation by the CBI officer and Sanjay Batra, the local police officer, who believe Nikhil to be the murderer. Vikram’s laptop, which held the witness information on his hit list, is destroyed by Nikhil. Vikram makes Nikhil pretend to be Vikram in order to meet with Jabbar in person and ask for the details of the two witnesses who are still on the hit list.

After doing so, Nikhil gets the item and gives it to Vikram, who was waiting for him outside in the cab. To Vikram’s dismay, Nikhil chooses to put his life in danger in order to protect the witnesses and races his cab. The cab collapses after hitting a kiosk. Nikhil pursues Vikram as he flees in search of his next victim. Vikram shoots the witness, and he is unable to save her. Nikhil notices his buddy Rhea’s name and picture on the phone that fell off of Vikram as he fled.

Nikhil is determined to protect Rhea from Vikram at all costs, so he tries to call her to warn her and tell her to leave, but her phone dies. She is dancing in the casino when he rushes to warn her. When Vikram and the cops arrive, Nikhil runs forward and pushes Rhea away just as Vikram is about to shoot her. When the police approach Nikhil as the suspected killer during the chaos that ensues after the gunshots, he tells them that Vikram is the real murderer. With Vikram after them, he succeeds in leaving the area. Ultimately, Nikhil challenges Vikram to shoot him as he approaches them and tries to shoot Rhea.

Just as Vikram is ready to pull the trigger on his gun, the police shoot him. Rhea is thus saved by Nikhil, and they are joyfully reunited.

Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama gave 2.5 star out of 5 star and Criticize the film by saying ” Emraan is adequate in the initial portions, but comes in form when he starts confronting Irrfan. He is admirable in the sequence with Zakir Hussain. Irrfan is splendid all through. The eccentric character has been portrayed with gusto by the actor. His dialogues, at places, will be greeted with a thunderous applause.Nisha Kothari doesn’t get a chance to display histrionics, but exhibits her anatomy nonetheless.Zakir Hussain is powerful in that single scene. Avtar Gill and Bharti Achrekar are satisfactory.THE KILLER is an absorbing fare that should appeal to lovers of thrillers.”
