Tanu Weds Manu Movie is an 2011 Indian Bollywood romantic comedy-drama Directer is Aanand L. Rai, and producer is Shailesh R Singh. It film stars are R. Madhavan, Kangana Ranaut, Jimmy Sheirgill, Eijaz Khan, Swara Bhaskar and Deepak Dobriyal. The story of the film has been written by Himanshu Sharma, music is directer is Krsna Solo and the lyrics penned by Rajshekhar.

The film was released on 25 February 2011. Upon release, the film was commercially successful, particularly in Delhi, UP and Punjab. It was dubbed in German and released under the title Tanu Und Manu Trauen Sich. The film was remade in Telugu as Mr. Pellikoduku. A sequel, titled Tanu Weds Manu: Returns was released on 22 May 2015.

Story of The Film :

London-based Dr. Manoj Sharma returns home to Delhi, and in the company of his parents, Kishan and Anju, as well as several others, travels to Chaman Ganj, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh to meet his prospective bride, Tanuja Trivedi. He approves of her, informs his elders and they begin preparations for the marriage. Subsequently he gets a rude awakening when Tanuja tells him that she already has a boyfriend and plans to marry him even against her parents’ wishes. Manoj informs his parents, and they set about to see other girls for their son – albeit in vain – as he has his heart set on Tanuja, and is all set to return back unmarried. Manoj and Tanuja are fated to meet again in Kapurthala, Punjab, while attending the marriage of Jaspreet Singh Jassi and Payal Sinha. While Manoj hopes to win Tanuja’s heart – he will face more rejection when she enlists his assistance to elope with another male.

Production :

The film had been originally announced with Konkana Sen Sharma playing the role of Tanu. However, after a period of stall, the film was re-announced with Kangana Ranaut replacing the character.

Tanu Weds Manu remake is done in Telugu as Mr. Pellikoduku with actress Isha Chawla along with South Indian actor Sunil.

Sequel :

Following the positive response from Tanu Weds Manu, the team considered making a sequel to carry a story forward showing the next chapter of the couple’s life. The sequel titled Tanu Weds Manu: Returns was released on 22 May 2015. The film received positive reviews from critics, with particular praise directed towards Ranaut’s performance.. It was a super-hit at the box-office with the worldwide collection of 252 crore .

This film review are Mostly Positive from Critics, IMDB Public Reviewing site give 6.8 Star Out Of 10 Star with Reviewers are 13,408.

Today i watched Tannu weds Mannu without much expectations from it, but it turned out to be a good time pass movie.

First half is really like a roller coaster ride. Lots of humor with some ‘beeped slangs’. It was really funny to hear Indian slags from Kangna who is playing a role of a bindass girl.. ;). As the movie move on you create an interest in the story. Unlike most of bollywood movies where you can predict every scene before, this movie is some what different.

Second half is comparatively slow and the story calms down with some emotional touch in the movie. Story becomes somehow predictable, but it needs to be that way. They couldn’t do much in that.

Kangna has shown in couple of her last movie that she can also act a bit. Madhavan is good as always.

Overall it is a good time pass movie. Go and watch it if you are bored with you daily routine and want some fun.

Critics Rating by Taran Adarsh, from Bollywood Hungama give 1.5 star out of 5 Star.
