Shamshera is an upcoming 2020 Bollywood action-adventure Movie.The starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor. It is producer is Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films. The movie is written and being directeris Karan Malhotra. Set in the 1800s, the Movie is about a dacoit tribe who took charge in fight for their rights and independence against the British. Ranbir Kapoor is playing double role, as central character Shamshera and his father. Vaani Kapoor is playing a dancer.
The photography of the Movie began on 1 December 2018. The Movie will release on July 31, 2020 in IMAX theaters, coinciding with the Bakrid holiday weekend.

Casting:
- Following Ranbir Kapoor’s casting announcement along with that of the film on 6 May 2018, Sanjay Dutt was confirmed to be the main villain of the Movie, and his casting was announced on 10 May. Four days later, Vaani Kapoor’s casting was announced, set to play a “desirable and sought-after travelling performer from the Indian heartland.” On 4 December 2018, several days after filming had commenced, Ronit Roy announced his casting on his Twitter page.
Filming:
- The Movie shooting photography of the Movie began on 1 December 2018, with shooting expected to wrap by mid-2019. A massive fort for the Movie was built at Film City, Goregaon, requiring two months of preparation and the effort of nearly 300 workers. Vaani Kapoor pushes her limits as an artiste as she takes professional training in Kathak for the movie.

Marketing and release:
- On 6 May 2018, Yash Raj Films released a 45-second teaser video, announcing the Movie and its casting of Ranbir Kapoor as the Movie’s eponymous lead character. The following day, director Karan Mahotra released a first-look poster on Twitter. On 3 July, the producers announced the official release date of the Movie as 31 July 2020. In January 2019, it was confirmed that Ranbir Kapoor will be playing a double role―Shamshera and his father―for the first time in his career.
