Story of the film
Every character is introduced during Tambola Night, which opens the movie. ACP Bhavani Singh is given the case with SI Padam Kumar when gym trainer Leo Matthews passes away the next day after a hefty weight falls on his windpipe. President Bhatti thinks the case is clear-cut, while Bhavani Singh thinks it is a murder since the CCTV camera was covered by party balloons and Prince Harry’s beloved cat, Hariya, was exhibiting symptoms of illness. The investigation begins with Roshni Batra, Cookie Katoch, and Bambi Todi, the first characters to see the body on their visit to the gym. They refer to Aakash Dogra, who said he was Leo’s attorney during a brawl between Leo and Rannvijay Singh on Night of Tambola.
He admits to assisting Leo in a narcotics case after speaking with Aakash about the inquiry. The women also said that Rannvijay Singh had an affair with Ganga, the beauty parlor lady, and actress Shehnaz Noorani had an affair with Leo. Bhavani’s suspicions that Rannvijay Singh is the killer are further cemented when, throughout the inquiry, he becomes protective of Ganga.
Leo’s forensic reports reveal the presence of a drug named Pinko Haathini in his body in absurd amounts, which makes a human unable to lift even the lightest items, let alone a barbell. This is overheard by Bambi. Interrogation with Guppie Ram, Thinsuk, Theju, and Minu all led to nothing.
Bambi and Aakash’s romance is reignited, and it turns out that they are great friends with drug addict Yash Batra. Aakash learns from Bambi that Leo was blackmailing her because he knew she had relapsed into kleptomania following the loss of her husband, Anshul. They inform ACP Bhavani Singh about this, which directs them to Shepherd’s Orphanage, where Bambi had donated. The names of some club members are on the orphanage’s list of donors, which rekindles interest in them.
The claims that Leo blackmailed Roshni, Rannvijay, and Shehnaaz are denied, although flashbacks reveal otherwise. Rakesh, the senior warden at the orphanage, appreciates Leo for generating so many donations. After Bambi discloses that Pinko, a drug, was involved in Leo’s death, she and Aakash travel to a party to track drug sellers. Ganga’s husband, Ajay Kumar, was implicated by a dealer in the distribution of narcotics to members of the Royal Delhi Club. They plan to break into Yash’s house when they discover him purchasing narcotics from the same vendor. Bambi takes pictures of the narcotic packages she discovers in his drawer.
Shehnaaz discloses during Leo’s burial that she gave birth to her daughter during the Mumbai Riots. The funeral was not attended by Guppie Ram. When asked why he did not go to the burial, Guppie Ram responds that Leo had done several sins and that, like the last individual, his time had come. Guppie’s dementia takes over, and he does not respond when Bhavani asks who he was referring to.
Cookie gives her the sculptures of Shehnaaz and Rannvijay on the day of the club’s election for president. Aakash and Yash are fighting over an unidentified subject. Guppie Ram discovers his cat, Hariya, burned inside the kitchen oven after failing to locate her. Guilt-ridden, Guppie Ram uses Rannvijay’s flare rifle to end his own life. Following their altercation, Aakash provides Bhavani Singh with the proof against Yash; however, Bhavani Singh discovers nothing at Yash’s residence. He also brings up the subject of Ajay Kumar’s disappearance, which prompts Ganga to question him. Ganga claims that only Rannvijay Singh was aware of Ajay Kumar’s abusive behavior against her.
An investigation into Rannvijay reveals that he is a poor heir of a dwindling royal lineage and that he even packs meals from the Royal Delhi Club twice a day. Additionally, it is disclosed that he is gay and dating gym trainer Thinsuk, whom Leo knew. Additionally, Rannvijay Singh opposes digging up the kitchen garden site, which bears his late wife’s name. Bhavani Singh had the place dug up on suspicion that Guppie Ram was dumping acid on the kitchen garden. A human skeleton is seen. They submit it for forensics, assuming it belongs to Ganga’s fugitive husband, Ajay Kumar. The arrest of Rannvijay Singh is planned.
Things start when the human skeleton is discovered when Bambi discovers video of Aakash attending her first anniversary celebration again the day following Ajay Kumar’s escape. Additionally, she discovers video of Rannvijay Singh assaulting Ajay while Ganga is at his side. She deletes the video after saving it on her phone. Rakesh, the warden of Shepherd Orphanage, calls Aakash to the orphanage after obtaining Leo’s iPad.
The skeleton’s left eye socket contains blue crystal fragments that have been identified as rare crystals. Bhavani Singh is aware that Cookie Katoch, the club’s sculptor, is the only one who utilizes these rare stones. Cookie discloses that she gave the Dogras and Rannvijay Singh two busts of Mother Teresa, respectively. While the bust at Dogra’s residence is gone, the one at Rannvijay’s is discovered undamaged. Bhavani Singh also learns that on the day when Ajay Kumar vanished, Aakash attended the first anniversary celebration again.
Blue crystal shards that have been classified as rare crystals have been found in the left eye socket of the skeleton. Bhavani Singh knows that these precious stones are used solely by Cookie Katoch, the club’s sculptor. Cookie reveals that she donated two statues of Mother Teresa to Rannvijay Singh and the Dogras, respectively. The bust at Rannvijay’s house is found unharmed, but the one at Dogra’s is gone. Bhavani Singh also finds out that Aakash went to the first anniversary party once again on the day when Ajay Kumar disappeared.
Bambi confesses after witnessing the love of her life receive a jail term. She admits that Anshul intended to divorce Bambi and wed Ganga after they had an affair. Bambi begged Anshul not to divorce her because she wanted to maintain the appearance of their ideal marriage in front of the club, but Anshul refused to change his mind. Anshul was slain when she used the bust that Aakash’s grandmother had given her as a weapon out of rage. After she informed Guppie Ram that Anshul had sexually assaulted Ganga, Guppie Ram assisted Bambi in concealing his body in the kitchen garden, which is why he was dousing the area with acid.

On 15 March 2024, the Murder Mubarak movie was released in theaters.
Review
All things considered, “Murder Mubarak” is a compelling mystery with widespread appeal. As they solve the riddle of a heartless murder, the movie skillfully maintains its tense atmosphere, holding our attention. The movie fulfills its promise to keep viewers wondering right up to the very end, even though the investigation may not be perfectly done.
With an average rating of 5.4/10, 63% of the 16 reviewers’ reviews on the review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes are favorable.
Saibal Chatterjee of NDTV gave the movie a 3/5 rating and stated that it does not depend on action to make an impact. And the script makes sure that the conversation is interesting. The film is always captivating because of the director’s flourishes and editing that keep up with the investigation’s rapid pace.
The film’s acting and unexpected climax are what make Murder Mubarak stand out despite its plodding plot, according to a Bollywood Hungama critic who gave it a 2.5 out of 5-star rating.
This is the closest any film has come to re-creating Anuja Chauhan’s universe; very few can do the insider-outsider divide with such acuteness, both sharp and warm, said Shubhra Gupta of The Indian Express, who gave the movie a rating of 2.5 out of five stars.
Rediff’s Sukanya Verma awarded Murder Mubarak two out of five stars, stating that although director Homi Adajania is comfortable with oddball costumes and gory details, the film does not captivate the audience with its shallow world of the conceited and affluent.
