Story
Kapil Kumar Khanna, his wife Durga, and their two boys, Karan (Master Ravi) and Kishen, make up the happy family at the beginning of the movie. Karan is a very mischievous child who frequently annoys his parents with his antics. One day, at his wife’s request, Kapil Kumar, an honest inspector, brings Karan with him. Khanna arrests Vidyanath and Ranjit Saxena for narcotics possession while on duty. When Karan pushes the wrong lever to save his father, Kapil Khanna is killed. Ranjit and Vidyanath attempt to kill him by throwing him to the ground with equipment.
After Vidyanath accuses Karan of killing his father, his mother Durga becomes furious and gives him a beating and orders him to leave. Karan flees the house in a flood of emotion and heads for the sea. He leaps in and ends his own life. His mother, who is devastated, claims that she did not want him to abandon her and punish her in this way. Instead of dying, Karan is saved by Hussein (Master Suresh), who takes him to his house where he meets a new mother (Renu Joshi) and they become best friends, setting an example for humanity that is later depicted in the film.
As the opening titles play, we see Durga escorting Kishen to a different location where he is raised. However, the early years of Hussein and Karan are also depicted. Kishen, a poor performer, now comes of age. He is in love with Lucy (Rabia Amin), another struggling actress whose father spends all of her money on alcohol. After Kishen gets home, he performs a play for his mother, and they end up getting back together. Kishen describes the modern girls after he declines his mother’s proposal of marriage. Anuradha arrives in her automobile, driving quickly.
Anuradha hits Lucy with her car as she crosses the street, injuring her. She is pursued by Kishen, who takes her to the police station and puts her in jail after a pursuit. The conceited girl Anuradha phones up her brother, who turns out to be Ranjit Saxena. The policeman locks Anuradha away after refusing to take a bribe.
Ranjit begs Vidyanath’s mind to come up with a solution. Chutkiram, Vidyanath’s son, is sent to beat Kishen up. Chutkiram, who lisps, has a soft spot for Anuradha, whom he affectionately refers to as Anu. A brawl breaks out between Kishen and Chutkiram and his thugs, during which Kishen beats them severely. He is taken to the police station by Kishen, who tells him that he was attacked. At that moment, Ranjit arrives, grants Anu bail, and departs after stating that Lucy has granted Anu a forgiveness of 25,000 rupees.
While Lucy is in the hospital, Kishen confronts her and tells her to keep the money. At that moment, Lucy’s inebriated father arrives, takes the cash, and walks away. Kishen tells him to leave Lucy’s life after slapping him. With a promise of vengeance, Lucy’s father unwillingly departs. After being released from prison, Anuradha plans to exact revenge on Kishen and places a wager with a friend.
Kishen finds work as a chauffeur, and he and his mother are thrilled about it. He discovers on his first day of work that he is Anuradha’s driver, and Anuradha takes advantage of this to make fun of Kishen by placing her feet in her face. She tells him to bring her shoe when he discards it. Then he tries to hit him and tosses her shoe in her face. After humiliating Anuradha, Kishen quits his position.
After posing as social workers, the girls attempt to trick Kishen’s mother and attempt to approach Durga, which she is successful in doing. When Durga and Kishen visit a mandir the following day, they encounter Anuradha. Although she is being extremely kind to Kishen, Kishen doesn’t fall for it and taunts her. Even when Anuradha declares in the temple that she accepts Kishen as her husband and wants to wed him, Kishen still doesn’t show interest in her. After threatening to end her own life, she flees. She is on the verge of jumping off a cliff when Kishen intervenes and declares his love for her.
After a song sequence, Anuradha throws a party where Kishen openly declares his love for her. However, Anu then reveals her true identity and tells him that she did this as payback. After she swore Kishen as her husband, Kishen forces her to go to the same temple. Then, Kishen weds her. Kishen brings her home and informs Ranjit that he recently married Anuradha while Anu’s brother, Ranjit, is searching for her. Despite his anger, Ranjit is powerless. Declaring that he is leaving his wife in Ranjit’s care, Kishen departs.
To assist Vidyanath, Ranjit goes to him. After that, Vidyanath phones Durga and threatens to murder him if he does not distance himself from Anuradha, whom Kishen was forced to marry. Durga breaks down and begs Kishen’s forgiveness because she truly wanted Kishen to wed Anuradha. After being brought to the hospital, the doctor informs Kishen that she will require surgery and that he must make the necessary financial arrangements.
Lucy receives a call from Vidyanath, who offers to produce a play in which she and Kishen play the main parts. After reaching an agreement, Lucy and Kishen meet Vidyanath and practice for the performance in which Kishen pretends to shoot Lucy. Vidyanath is surreptitiously recording the gunshot and their voices during all of this. Kishen departs after Vidyanath gives him the money he needs for the procedure.
When Chutkiram tries to rape Lucy while she is rehearsing her dance, Vidyanath arrives and shoots her. He substitutes Lucy’s and Kishen’s recorded voices for the tape. When Lucy’s father arrives and hears the tape playing, he takes it. Kishen enters and discovers Lucy dead as he is leaving. At that moment, Kishen is arrested by the police. Kishen is placed on remand when the court is unable to establish his guilt. After that, Vidyanath dispatches his jailbirds to murder Kishen. A brawl breaks out, with Kishen losing and on the verge of being stabbed. At that moment, a man arrives to assist Kishen. He speaks in riddles when Kishen asks who he is.
Vidyanath and Ranjit are tense because their strategy didn’t work out. As she listens to their conversation, Anuradha changes her mind and tells her brother that she now genuinely welcomes Kishen as her spouse. Vidyanath intervenes to stop Ranjit from killing her because he is enraged. Vidyanath discloses that they have the recording (they have located Lucy’s father) and gives it to his lawyer, who finds him guilty in court and sentences him to death. They release Anuradha. After that, Vidyanath kills Lucy’s father by hurling him off a tall building.
While incarcerated, Kishen plays the song “Aana Jaana,” which he and Karan listened to as kids. When Karan hears the song, he recognizes it right away. At the end of the song, they finally locate one another after singing the song all around the jail. They identify one another from the altercation the other day, and it turns out that the unidentified individual is actually Kishen’s missing older brother, Karan Kumar Khanna. However, Karan tells him his story, starting from his early years, without revealing his identity. When Kishen recognizes a pattern in his story, he asks him to go on, and he does.
When Karan asks Hussein’s mother for her blessing for his promotion, she inquires about his impending marriage and advises him to go ask Geeta to marry him. He approaches fellow inspector Geeta and pops the question.
The following day, Geeta and Hussein’s mother visit a jewelry store, where they are taken hostage by bandits. After that, Karan enters and beats the bandits, but they flee. Regretfully, Inspector Hussein is waiting for them and assaults them as well. Hussein and Karan both take them to jail.
It is discovered that Ranjit, Vidyanath, Chutkiram, and their attorney are co-conspirators who want Hussein and Karan killed. Vijay, Geeta’s brother and the son of the police commissioner is also a member of the criminal organization. Hussein and Karan go and threaten to arrest them and tell them to cease committing crimes. Vijay thereafter complains to Police Commissioner Sinha, his father. Hussein and Karan are cautioned by the Commissioner to respect their boundaries.
Hussein and Karan promise to investigate a fresh case that comes to them. Hussein and Raksha Bandhan are also absent. After Hussein and Geeta complete the “Rakhi” rite, Geeta tries to explain that they shouldn’t misuse their police uniforms. Karan is listening as a minor altercation breaks out. After some time of joking, Hussein’s mother grants the three of them the blessing of a happy life.
The two Pathans claim that they follow their instructions and arrest Ranjit and Vidyanath, but their lawyer frees them. They come up with a new scheme and summon them to various locations. When Hussein and Karan fall into their trap, Ranjit beats Hussein, who is then killed by Vijay and burned alive. Hussein passes away in Karan’s arms as Karan arrives too late. Karan promises retribution. When Karan tells Hussein’s mother this terrible news, she is unable to handle the shock and passes away in agony.
While Vijay is hiding, Karan discovers him and exacts his retribution by burning him alive in the same manner that he killed Hussein. Geeta arrests him and sentences him to life in prison as he leaves smiling. Karan concludes his story with Kishen at this point. When Durga arrives to meet Kishen, Karan recognizes her and promises to keep Kishen safe without disclosing who he is.
The following day, Karan aids Kishen in his escape and is taken into custody for it. He escapes himself as he explains the situation in a hilarious manner. He also inadvertently enters the home of the Commissioner, who is now disabled and confined to a wheelchair, while he is on the run. As the Commissioner prepares to shoot him, Karan begs for his release in order to clear his brother Kishen. Despite not believing him, the Commissioner gives in at Geeta’s request.
When her father tells Durga that Karan is still alive, Durga discovers that it was actually his older brother who had saved Kishen’s life while he was incarcerated. After several years, he returns home after escaping the Commissioner’s mansion. The relationship between Karan and Kishen improves as the mother and son get back together. The brothers use Chutkiram as a pawn in their plan to snare Vidyanath and Ranjit in their own trap. They quickly learn that Vijay has survived and is not dead. After a last battle, Chutkiram and Vidyanath are taken into custody by the police, and all of the gang members are dead. The police commissioner dies as a result of Vijay killing him, but Karan ultimately kills Vijay and weds Geeta.
