Story of the film
In Sanskrit, ahinsa signifies non-violence. The story begins with a random meeting between two widows who lost their spouses and sons to violence. In fight, Birju (Sunil Dutt) has been awarded the highest military honor. As soon as he gets back to his community, he turns into a dacoit or bandit leader.
He trades swords with her, a fierce dacoit. Asrani, the village priest who performs at numerous weddings, is a funny comedian. Set in the 1960s, when men were men and rode horses, there is the typical mix of violence, forced marriage, attempted rape, and thievery.
