The 2023 Indian thriller movie Merry Christmas will be directed by Sriram Raghavan and simultaneously shot in Tamil and Hindi. Arijit Biswas, Pooja Ladha Surti, and Anukriti Pandey also contributed to the screenplay.
Under the banner of Tips Films and Matchbox Pictures, it is produced by Ramesh Turani, Jaya Turani, Sanjay Routray, and Gewal Garg. Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif are the movie’s stars.
The title of the movie and its release date were both revealed in December 2021. Beginning that same month in Mumbai, the main shooting ended in January 2023. Pritam composed the music, while Daniel B. George, Madhu Neelakandan, and Pooja Ladha Surti handled the background score, cinematography, and editing, respectively.
The Merry Christmas movie will be released on December 15, 2023.

Production
Pre-Production
Early in January 2021, Sriram Raghavan signed Katrina Kaif to star in the lead female part in his upcoming movie, which also stars Vijay Sethupathi. The release of the movie was supposed to happen in April, but it was postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic’s second wave and Katrina’s positive COVID-19 test results. The movie’s producers, Ramesh Turani and Sanjay Routray, were formally confirmed on December 25.
Casting
In an interview with ETimes, producer Ramesh stated, “Vijay suited the role perfectly so we approached him for this film.” and “From the beginning, Katrina was our only choice for the role.” Kaif made her Tamil cinema’s first film with this movie. Sanjay Kapoor was confirmed to have a significant role in the movie at the beginning of March 2022.
Raadhika Sarathkumar’s inclusion in the cast was also revealed in April. In August, it was revealed that Vinay Pathak would be in the cast. He was also rumored to have a significant part in the movie.
Ashwini Kalsekar and Radhika Apte were confirmed to make cameo appearances in the movie in July 2023.
Shooting
On December 25, 2021, the first schedule for the main shoot was set up in Mumbai. Due to an increase in COVID cases, the shooting was postponed until the beginning of January 2022. The filming resumed in Mumbai’s Filmistan Studio at the beginning of February. In March, Sanjay began filming his assigned scenes. On March 11, Katrina continued to film her scenes. In March, the first timetable was completed.
On March 19, the second schedule got under way in a studio in Chitrakoot. It was stated that the timetable will last 45 days. In April, Raadhika began filming her assigned scenes. The schedule was changed to a studio in Vrindavan in August because of a fire event in the neighborhood. In November, the second schedule came to an end.
Post-production
After shooting wrapped up on the final schedule in mid-November 2022, Raghavan began the post-production work. A billingual film, as defined by Raghavan in May 2023, is one that was simultaneously shot in both Tamil and Hindi. The release date (15 December 2023) was confirmed on July 17.

Theatrical
The Tamil and Hindi versions of Merry Christmas are slated for a theatrical release on December 15, 2023. Originally slated for release on December 23, 2022, the movie was delayed to prevent a box office conflict with Rohit’s Cirkus.
