Story of the film
Police Commissioner Uday Singh (Anupam Kher) is the sole son of photojournalist Arjun (Sunny Deol), who resides contentedly with his parents, younger sister, and grandmother. He meets Aarti, a modestly profiled reporter for a local daily who aspires to be a well-known journalist (Sushmita Sen). They fall in love and plan to marry, but there’s an obstacle.
Arjun informs Aarti that before they can tie the knot, they must wait for his close friend Iqbal (Milind Gunaji), a retired Indian Army Captain, to give his blessing. Concurrently, Arjun’s father faces accusations of betraying an unidentified terrorist and is labeled a traitor. When Commissioner Singh is arrested by the police during Arjun’s sister’s engagement, Iqbal is also in Arjun’s house. Arjun thinks there is a plot against his father, therefore in an effort to salvage his father’s honor, he sets out to track down the terrorist who is on the run and apprehend those responsible. Iqbal, meanwhile, disappears from Arjun’s house.
Because of this, Arjun becomes wary of Iqbal and travels to Kashmir. There, he escaped a terrorist attack and discovered that Iqbal was the one leading the group that had attacked him. Iqbal explains to Arjun why he turned terrorist after meeting a nationalistic army leader. Iqbal loved his wife and family more than everything, but he lost them in a riot in his hometown. Along with hundreds of teenagers, a community leader named Shah Alam (Om Puri) took him to train them to battle the people who had ruined their village. Iqbal develops into an increasingly anti-national figure before becoming the leader of a terrorist group.
After hearing Iqbal’s account, Arjun told him that everything was planned to paint Iqbal as a terrorist since, during his time in the Indian Army, he developed explosives expertise and used it to create explosives that would harm both his own nation and its citizens. At last, Iqbal accepts to assist Arjun and shows understanding.
Shah Alam notifies his accomplice in crime Swamiji that he has heard that Iqbal has moved on from him. When Swamiji visits Ajay at home, he threatens to kill his family if he doesn’t say anything. Iqbal is being sought after by Swami and Alam for murder since he is going to testify against them.
After much violence, Arjun finally brings Iqbal to court just as the Commissioner is about to be found guilty. Arjun explains to the judge that individuals such as Alam and Swamiji are the true traitors; they turn innocent people like Iqbal into terrorists. Iqbal provides the court with all the evidence against Alam and Swamiji, leading to the declaration of Iqbal’s innocence and the Commissioner’s release. When Alam is arrested, Swamiji refuses to back down, claiming that his supporters will cause a commotion. However, Arjun, with the assistance of his media connections, gets the full court proceedings broadcast live on a national television channel, exposing Swamiji’s true character to his supporters. He was fatally beaten by his own supporters. After giving his father his dignity back, Arjun has completed his task.
