Story of the film

Ikram (Raju Kher) is a devout Muslim who resides in Lucknow with his family in harmony. Maulana Jilani (Akhilendra Mishra), his brother, is a well-respected Muslim figure. The maulana gains authority from his large following by rescuing his adherents from legal problems. However, the maulana’s motivations are not as they first appear. He has a darker side that he uses to incite terrorism and violence. He specializes in selecting youngsters for missions including suicide bombings and brainwashes them using a variety of techniques, such as showing them movies depicting crimes against Muslims.

The ATS officer Rann Vijay Singh (Ajaz Khan), who is trailing the maulana, has knowledge of an impending event in Lucknow on a specific day. After Khan’s Muslim fiancée found out that her brother is a terrorist, their relationship collapsed. To make up for his loss, she chooses not to get married. Ran Vijay has gradually narrowed in on the maulana and deduced that a suicide bomber will demolish a busy shopping center in the city. When he arrives at the mall, the bomb goes off.

The maulana will be haunted by the bombing because Amreen, the pregnant daughter-in-law of his brother Arjumman Mughal, is among the casualties. Since she was spotted conversing with the bomber before to it detonating, indicating that she knew him, Ran Vijay’s hopes were centered on her. Though the lone witness to the bombing, she is completely devoid of thought. The maulana makes every attempt to murder her, even threatening Dr. Mazhar (Manzar Sehbai), the surgeon, with mob violence and the destruction of his hospital, all in an attempt to keep her alive until the doctors can extract the child.

Review of the film:

These film reviews are mostly negative from critics.

Critics reviews:

  • Times of India critics gave 2 star from 5 star and stated that “It may have started out as a noble intention, but the film’s execution is outdated and comes across as clichéd. You have deafening music every time the villain makes an appearance and he (Akhilendra Mishra) screams at the top of his lungs to look evil. Newcomer Arjumman Mughal acts well. Ajaz Khan has a good screen presence but exudes a rough demeanour, that’s more akin to a crook. The dialogues are way too dramatic, instead of hard-hitting. The linear storyline and overtly simplistic narrative may appeal to those who prefer the formulaic cinema of the 80s. Thus, the film might find appeal in mass audiences, which explains its style.”
  • Indiatv news critics gave 3 stars out of 5 stars and stated that “Strong message on religious fundamentalism,”An eye for an eye may be fine for an era gone by. In today’s day and age, just chill, and curb the rage.”That’s the message this loud and melodramatic film puts across with a deafening gusto and a blinding sincerity.”
Mahesh Bhatt and Anees Bazmee reviewing the film
