Triptii Dimri

Triptii Dimri is a talented Indian actress who has garnered significant attention for her powerful performances in Bollywood films. Known for her intense and nuanced acting, she has quickly established herself as a promising talent in the industry.

She received critical acclaim for her performances in Anvita Dutt’s historical dramas Bulbbul (2020) and Qala (2022); the former earned her a Filmfare OTT Award. Dimri was listed on Forbes Asia’s 2021 30 Under 30 list. After gaining recognition for her supporting role in the highly popular action film Animal (2023), for which she received a nomination for a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress, she later starred in the comedies Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 (2024) and Bad Newz.

Early Life Of Triptii Dimri:

On February 23, 1994, Triptii Dimri was born in Uttarakhand’s Pauri Garhwal district. In an interview, she stated that her parents, Meenakshi and Dinesh, had always encouraged her in her professional endeavors.

Career:

Early work and critical recognition (2017–2022)

Following her appearance as an extra in Mom (2017), Dimri landed her first major role in the comedy Poster Boys, directed by Shreyas Talpade and starring Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, and Talpade. She played Talpade’s love interest in the official version of the Marathi movie Poshter Boyz. Although she was deemed “decent” by a Bollywood Hungama critic, Dimri’s performance was overshadowed by that of the other members of the ensemble cast.

She subsequently starred opposite Avinash Tiwary in the highly regarded love movie Laila Majnu (2018). She “imbued her Laila with an edge that made the character’s constant flirtations with danger believable,” according to Anna M. M. Vetticad’s Firstpost assessment. Despite its initial economic failure, the picture was given cult status by numerous venues after its digital release. Later on, Dimri said that he found it difficult to deal with the movie’s box office disaster.

Following a brief absence, Dimri made her debut as the lead in Bulbbul, Anvita Dutt’s spooky drama from 2020, when she reunited with Tiwari for the second time. Critics gave the Anushka Sharma-produced movie favorable reviews. From the helpless and defenseless to the metamorphosis into the enigmatic tease, Dimri is a stunning woman whose eyes convey a lot, according to Namrata Joshi of The Hindu. And the audience’s only option is to remain enthralled. She won the Filmfare OTT Award for Best Actor, Web Original Film (Female) for her performance.

Dimri and Dutt got back together in 2022, and Dimri played the lead in the highly regarded film Qala. Critics gave the movie favorable reviews, praising Dimri’s portrayal of a budding playback singer who struggles to manage her personal life and her burgeoning career. According to Dimri, she purposefully decided to star in Qala in order to challenge herself by experimenting with genres she had never worked in before and to broaden her repertoire. Despite finding Dimri “in fine form,” Sanatanu Das of the Hindustan Times noted that “her character is frustratingly one-note and delivered mostly in the same anxious wavelength.”

Commercial breakthrough (2023–present)

In the highly successful action-drama Animal (2023), which starred Ranbir Kapoor, Dimri had a brief appearance. Hindustan Times’ Monika Rawal Kukreja expressed gratitude for Dimri’s brief cameo in the movie. Dimri’s career advanced significantly as a result of the movie, as her performance increased her level of recognition. Triptii Dimri was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Filmfare Awards. She attributed her access to a greater range of roles to Animal’s popularity.

Dimri had three releases the next year. She costarred with Ammy Virk and Vicky Kaushal in the comedy Bad Newz, which explored heteropaternal superfecundation. Having become used to working on serious plays, she acknowledged that she found the comedy genre difficult. Her portrayal of a “befuddled character” was deemed inadequate by Saibal Chatterjee of NDTV. Rahul Desai of Film Companion specifically bemoaned Dimri’s character’s lack of nuance, especially in light of her more significant parts in Bulbbul and Qala.

Dimri and Rajkummar Rao portrayed newlyweds in 1997 who were looking for their missing sex tape in the Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala video. Dimri’s dance skills in a song from the movie “Mere Mehboob” drew criticism and social media trolling; she accepted it as a learning lesson while attempting something new. In a badly written movie, Pratikshya Mishra of The Quint was grateful for Rao and Dimri’s skills and chemistry. Her comedic timing in Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video and Bad Newz was criticized by India Today’s Bhavna Agarwal. The following month, Dimri costarred in the comedy-horror sequel Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 with Kartik Aaryan, Vidya Balan, and Madhuri Dixit. Dimri was written off as decorative by Rediff.com and The Hindu reviewers.

Among the highest-earning Bollywood films of 2024 are Bad Newz and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, the latter of which brought in nearly 330 Crores INR (US$40 million) worldwide. According to Saibal Chatterjee, Dimri “faces a very real risk of over-exposure” as a result of the large number of films she has starred in in a row. Her next project will be Dhadak 2, an adaptation of the Tamil movie Pariyerum Perumal, starring Siddhant Chaturvedi.

In the media:

Forbes Asia included Dimri on their 2021 30 Under 30 list. On Rediff.com’s list of the top actresses in Bollywood for 2020, she came in at number eight. According to The Times of India’s 2020 list of the 50 Most Desirable Women, she came in at number twenty.
