Story of the film

Prakash gets an opportunity to work for the same brand in Mumbai after losing his job when the hotel shuts. To prevent him from leaving their hill village, however, his kids embarked on a quest.

Tikdam is a welcome change in a time when hyper-masculinity, swearing, and superhero spectacles are the norm. Its poignant performances and straightforward narrative evoke strong emotions and cause you to consider the beauty of a more straightforward existence. The narrative, which revolves around a poor man and his two kids, makes you nostalgic and takes you back to a simpler, more innocent era. The relationship between a father and his children is sensitively shown in “Tikdam,” which is mostly aimed at youngsters but has enough depth to appeal to adults as well. It’s a memorable and endearing movie that makes you grin.

The plot, which is set in the highland village of Sukhtaal, centers on Prakash (Amit Sial), a low-level hotel chain employee and widower. The hotel’s owner, Rose (Jennifer Piccinato), decided to permanently close it due to the town’s deteriorating tourism and environmental problems. But because of his hard work, Prakash gets a job opportunity in another office in Mumbai. His children, Samay (Arisht Jain) and Cheeni (Aarohi Saud), are extremely saddened by the thought of their father abandoning their ancestral house when they find out about it. Unable to cope with his departure, the children make plans to prevent their father from relocating to Mumbai with the aid of their close friend Bhanu (Divyansh Dwivedi).

The film discusses the ecological challenges that small towns confront, as well as the movement of people from smaller areas to larger cities. The screenplay changes and remains grounded just when the story appears to veer into a didactic tone, with schoolchildren under the leadership of Samay and Bhanu taking action to stop deforestation, outlaw the use of plastic, and lessen noise pollution. Its simplicity, which frequently reflects realism, is its greatest strength. The schoolchildren’s behaviors are genuine and never over the top. Despite its difficulties, the movie depicts a below-middle-class family living in a tiny town in a slice-of-life fashion.

The film’s main message is powerfully conveyed in a particularly moving moment where Prakash’s mother confronts his older brother after he loses a card game on Diwali. Await the amusing moment when Prakash defines and comically explains the definition of “chudail” to Rose, the hotel owner.

The excellent performances in the movie improve the viewing experience. As Prakash, a widower and straightforward man who will stop at nothing to make his kids happy, Amit Sial excels. His bond with the children is sincere and touching. You may cry at some of the most poignant passages, which will help you identify with Sial’s character on a deep level. While Ajit Sarwottam Kelkar, who plays the grandfather, adds a little humor to lighten the atmosphere, Nayan Bhatt, who plays the vibrant grandma, provides vitality with her witty antics. The children, however, are the main focus of the movie, as Samay (Arisht Jain), Bhanu (Divyansh Dwivedi), and Cheeni (Aarohi Saud) all give compelling and genuine performances. In particular, Divyansh Dwivedi’s “wise-beyond-his-years” discourse steals the show. Movies like “Tikdam” are becoming increasingly uncommon, and filmmaker Vivek Anchalia is deserving of all the praise for tackling such a bold and unusual topic. This movie provides a calming diversion if you’re tired of the everyday grind of life.
