The Pink Mirror Movie is An 2020 Bollywood, the Indian release title Gulabi Aaina is an award-winning Indian film drama producer and directer is Sridhar Rangayan. Said to be the first Indian film to comprehensively focus on Indian transsexuals with the entire story revolving around two transsexuals and a gay teenager’s attempts to seduce a man Samir. The film explores the taboo subject of transsexuals in India which is still much misundersood & ridiculed.In 2003, the Central Board of Film Certification, the Indian Censor Board banned Rangayan’s film on Indian transsexuals. The censor board cited that the film was ‘vulgar and offensive’.
The filmmaker appealed twice again unsuccessfully. The film still remains banned in India, but has screened at numerous festivals all over the world and won awards. The critics have applauded it for its ‘sensitive and touching portrayal of marginalized community’.India’s foremost gay activist Ashok Row Kavi says, in his review, “The wonder is that it was not made before. The reality is that it is here now”. India’s leading newspaper, the Indian Express termed it – ‘This is more than just the “peeping into the closet” that Rangayan intended. It’s almost throwing the doors wide open for the world to look in!’The film has received tremendous support and critical acclaim from reviewers, festival directors and global audiences. It has screened at more than 70 international film festivals and won couple of awards. The film is also used as part of University archives,libraries as resource material in academic courses such as Gender, Nation and the World; Activist Voices in India; Gender and Film course.

Story Of The Film :
The Pink Mirror pits two Indian drag queens against a westernized gay teenager in a battle to woo a handsome hunk. It’s a clash of the east and west. Who will win? The drag queens, who are expert in the art of seduction with their wit, innuendo and cunning or the young teenager who is saucy, slutty and sly? Underneath the campy humorous exterior, the film is an exploration of the Indian gay landscape and understanding of the deep, humanly tender bondings that exist between drag queens in India who form unique, non-patriarchal families. Using the Bollywood soap idiom of song, dance and drama and for the first time in the Indian drag queens’ very own language, Hindi, the film also explores other veiled issues related to the Indian gay community: the lurking threat of HIV/AIDS.

The Pink Mirror Movie Review :
This film review are Mostly Positive from Critics, IMDB Public Reviewing site give 4.4 Star Out Of 10 Star with Reviewers are 126.
The movie is said to be the first depiction of drag queens in India and even prohibited in it’s country. Or at least it was, I am not sure about the current status since the movie came out in 2003 and for all we know it isn’t considered offensive now. But even if it is banned people are not missing much.
From the opening on it seems like soft core porn to me although there isn’t really any porn, just the shower scene comes close. But all the music, the cuts, it really felt like some old school porn.
Critics Rating by Mike Kennedy, from letterboxd give 3.5 star out of 5 Star.
