Story Of The Film
From the hamlet of Bagadpur, where Bhawra Pandey and Kattanni Qureshi are from, it is common for the guy who wants to marry a girl to kidnap her. Their boss and the head of the kidnapping group, Guniya Bhai, gives them the assignment to abduct Roohi as per the terms of a contract with a man who wants to marry her. But in order for the marriage to take place following the funeral, the groom’s family is forced to keep her hidden in an abandoned woodworking shop due to a death in the family. Bhawra discovers during their visit that Roohi is truly under the influence of a demonic spirit, and her father confirms this.
A year ago, Roohi was actually set to get married, but the groom and his family left when they realized she was possessed.
While Kattanni is enthralled with the evil spirit, who identifies herself as Afza, and tries to bring her forward instead of Roohi so that he can speak with her, Bhawra falls in love with Roohi and tries to entice the spirit from her body. They find out that the demon is a Mudiyapairi, a witch believed to be incredibly strong and with backward-turned feet, and that she won’t go until she and the girl she is possessing get married.
Fearing that Roohi’s kidnapping will be investigated by the police, Guniya Bhai orders them to leave her behind, but they refuse, so he has to send his goons to finish the job. As the henchmen attempt to attack Kattanni, Afza severely hurts them; they then inform Guniya Bhai about this.
An elderly woman informs Bhawra that the ‘Mudiyapairi’ must be coerced into becoming the mistress of a married man, thereby compelling her to abdicate her possession of the body. The same witch had previously possessed the elderly woman; she had exorcised the ghost, but not before the angry spirit had killed her presumed husband.
After Afza attacks the henchman, killing one and injuring the other, Bhawra, Roohi, and Kattanni depart for a village named Chimmattipur, where Bhawra marries a dog in an attempt to mislead the witch. He is rebuked by the locals for bringing a witch into their revered village, though. Afza has to get married in a day, and Guniya Bhai discovers this when he comes to exact revenge. Guniya Bhai, eager to restore his name, offers Afza the chance to wed the man who gave him the order to kidnap Roohi.
Arriving at the wedding with Bhawra, Kattanni persuades Afza to marry him while wearing Bhawra’s bridal gown. The elderly woman interrupts them, telling Afza that the marriage is a scam and tricking her by pretending to show her the footage of the dog wedding. When she sees Bhawra dressed as the groom, she becomes confused and thinks he’s Kattanni. A furious Afza orders Bhawra to wed him, but Roohi intervenes. Then, instead of viewing Afza as an enemy, Roohi chooses to wed Afza herself, embracing the strength she had given her.
Following the embrace between Roohi and Afza, Bhawra and Kattanni are left behind. The elderly woman tells the police that Roohi ran away by herself when she and her father arrived, but then she vanishes, suggesting that she may have been assisting Afza all along as she was earlier married to “Mudiyapairi.”
