Race 2 film is a 2013 Bollywood action thriller film directer are Abbas- Mustan Burmawalla and producer under the Tips Music Films banner. It is the sequel to the 2008 film.
Race 2 film is the second part of Race film series. The film has multi-starrer cast starring Saif Ali Khan, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, Jacqueline Fernandez, Ameesha Patel and Anil Kapoor in the lead roles while Aditya Pancholi and Rajesh Khattar are featured in supporting roles and Bipasha Basu is featured in a guest appear. Saif Ali Khan, Anil Kapoor and Bipasa Basu revised their roles from the previous film.
Made on a budget of 94 crore rs , Race 2 was released on 25th January, 2013 and opened to mixed reviews from critics and positive response at the box office, earning 161.53 crore rs. worldwide. According to Box Office India, film become hit.
This film Part 3 also released in 15 June, 2018 where Salman Khan play the lead role.

The songs “Lat Lag Gayee”, “Be Intehaan” and “Party on My Mind” became highly popular and were declared as chartbusters.

Pre-Post Production details :
After the success of Race 1 film (2008), Ramesh Taurani registered Race 2 as a title of the film and Abbas-Mustan said that they would go ahead with a sequel “if we get a script in right place which is even better than the original.” The screenplay was written by Shiraz Ahmed who also wrote Race.
Saif Ali Khan and Anil Kapoor were the first to sign on in November 2009 and were reported to be the only returning cast members from the first film. In June 2010, John Abraham was signed on to play the antagonist and Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra were initially selected to co-star with Saif and John Abraham respectively.
But Kareena Kapoor leaved the role as she didn’t want her pairing with Saif to get repetition while Priyanka opted out due to Busy schedule. After that Asin had been approached to star with Saif but her denied finally Deepika Padukone was cast.
In December 2010, Sonakshi Sinha was cast as a replacement for Kareena Then Chitrangda Singh was approached for a role with Anil Kapoor in May 2011 but eventually dropped out for unspecified reasons. Ameesha Patel and Mallika Sherawat were offered for that same role, but it ultimately go to Ameesha.
This film Initially starts shooting on 5th October, 2011 but was postponed to adjust Deepika”s dates causing scheduling conflicts with Sonakshi Sinha. Sonakshi’s dates conflicted with her film shooting schedule for Dabangg 2 (2012), causing leaved the film.
In October 2011, Jacqueline Fernandez who had earlier leavedthe film Because of Krrish 3 and Raaz 3 was cast as a replacement for Sonakshi. During That time, it was announced that Bipasha Basu would be reprising her role as Sonia in a cameo appear and continuing to be Saif’s love interest. Despite rumours suggesting that Bipasa would be sharing screen space with ex-boyfriend John Abraham for the first time after their break-up, John denied this. Reports have said that after this statement was said Abraham then told Saif that he didn’t want to work with Basu in the first place.
Controvercy of the film – Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, the largest of Sunni clerics in India, urged PM Manmohan Singh to stop their publication and display of Race 2 posters that featured verses from the Quran.
Ramesh Taurani In His Interview said that “The expectations from Race 2 are huge and we plan to make it as bigger and better than the first part.”
Film Shooting :
The first schedule starts on 5th November, 2011 in Mumbai, India for 15 days, completed up on 20 November. During that time, Sanjay Dutt was in talks to join the cast, but he dropped out due to Busy scheduling. The second schedule started on 23 January 2012 in Mumbai. Deepika Padukone dropped out within six days of shooting because the film was always being rescheduled.
Race 2’s producer Ramesh Taurani released a statement to the media deeming Deepika’s behaviour as “unethical, unprofessional and unacceptable”. Also, it was reported that Asin was offered the role to replace Padukone, although it has been rumoured that she declined the offer, thus avoiding any controversies regarding her and Kapoor.
At that time, Deepika and Producer Ramesh Taurani agreed on a settlement after much negotiation and the film shooting continued as planned. Jacqueline Fernandez , John and Deepika joined the cast in May at Istanbul for the third schedule. On 7 October 2012, shooting was completed. The Mardan Palace in Turkey was the setting for many scenes where it was shown as the home of Deepika and John’s characters.
Release of the film :
Race 2 film was released in 3200 screens in India; it is the third biggest release ever for a Hindi film after Ek Tha Tiger (3300 screens) and Dabangg 2 (3700 screens). Race 2 was released in more than 50 countries, including US, UK, Gulf, Australia, Pakistan as well as non-traditional markets like Maldives, East Timor, Myanmar, Morocco and Vietnam (with as many as seven screens).
The film had a simultaneous release in Morocco in four to five screens, including theatres in Casablanca and Marrakech. Race 2 is subtitled in Arabic, Thai, Bahasa, Malay, Vietnamese, and Dutch.
