Piku movie Story:
The story is set in Kolkata and follows the daily lives of Piku, a strong-willed and independent architect, and her hypochondriac father, Bhaskor, who is obsessed with his health. Piku is a responsible daughter who takes care of her father’s needs, while also juggling her professional and personal life.
The central conflict in the movie arises when Bhaskor develops chronic constipation, which becomes a topic of constant discussion and concern within the family. Bhaskor’s condition and obsession with it become a symbol of his controlling nature and his desire to retain his independence despite his old age.
When a family wedding invitation arrives from Piku’s ancestral home in Kolkata, the trio embarks on a road trip from Delhi to Kolkata. The journey provides an opportunity for them to bond and confront their unresolved issues. They are accompanied by Rana Chaudhary (played by Irrfan Khan), a cab driver who becomes an integral part of their journey.
During the road trip, the characters engage in humorous and philosophical conversations, revealing their quirks, fears, and vulnerabilities. Piku’s frustration with her father’s idiosyncrasies and Bhaskor’s resistance to letting go of his authoritative ways create tension within the family dynamics. However, Rana, with his easygoing nature, acts as a mediator and helps them understand each other better.
The film also explores themes of love, relationships, and the complexities of family dynamics. It delves into the generation gap between Piku and Bhaskor, their differing ideologies, and their efforts to find a balance between their individual desires and familial responsibilities.
“Piku” is a heartwarming and realistic portrayal of a father-daughter relationship, highlighting the challenges and joys of caregiving, as well as the importance of communication and understanding within a family. The movie received critical acclaim for its strong performances, engaging storytelling, and relatable characters.
