Palmaris brevis is a thin quadrilateral muscle.
it’s placed beneath the integument of the ulnar side of the hand.
it is act to fold the skin of the hypothenar eminance transversally.

ORIGIN : flexor retinaculum and palmar apponeurosis

INSERTION : palm

NERVE SUPPLY : superficial branch of ulnar nerve

ACTION/EXERCISE :

pullson skin over hypothenar eminance depending the cup of the
palm and so improving grip

palmaris brevis is supplied by the palmar metacarpal artery.
it is the branch of deep palmar arch.

CLINICAL IMPORTANCE :

Carpal tunnel syndrome is associated with increased intracarpal canal pressure

The effect of tendon loading on intracarpal canal pressures is documented in biomechanical studies.
Palmaris longus muscle in wrist extension induces the greatest absolute increase in intracarpal canal pressure.
but still yet palmaris longus is not yet a proven independent risk factor for the development of carpal tunnel syndrome.
