Pre-Post Production
Pre-production:
The film was initially planned to be in making in January 2021 with Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal reuniting as leads cast the first part, but Paresh Rawal denied the reports. In June 2021, the sequel to OMG was finally announced with a new storyline starring Akshay Kumar. Other lead cast are Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam as new additions that same month, while Arun Govil joined the cast in November 2021 as Lord Rama.
After nearly two decades, Arun Govil is back in major motion pictures. 1997’s Dhaal is the final known production of his.
Lord Ram’s part was reprised by Arun Govil. In the 1987 smash hit TV show Ramayana from Ramanand Sagar, which was based on popular Indian mythology, he portrayed Lord Ram.
Film shooting:
Pankaj Tripathi started the first schedule of the film on 2 September 2021 in Mumbai while Akshay Kumar joined the sets in the second schedule during mid-October 2021. The third schedule of the film started in December 2021.
Marketing
The first look poster of the movie showing Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva was released in October 2021.
Controversy
The Central Board of Film Certification recommended 20 cuts to the script and a “A” rating for adults only because they thought the movie’s subject matter—sex education in schools as well as God and religion—would be divisive and might offend some viewers. A “Messenger of God” was suggested as an alternative to Akshay Kumar’s original role in the movie, which was going to be that of Lord Shiva.
The film’s creators insisted on acquiring a (U/A) certificate (unrestricted public showing subject to parental guidance for minors under the age of twelve), believing that this would compromise the film’s core and reduce its appeal. The censor board ultimately granted the movie a (A) (Adults Only) certificate with no cuts but 25 changes.
Review of the film
Highly positive reviews from critics and appreciated the performance of all stars mainly Pankaj Tripathi.
