Nishabd is a 2007 Indian drama Movie directer Ram Gopal Varma, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Jiah Khan. The story of the film took inspiration from the 1999 American film American Beauty and the 1986 Indian film Anokha Rishta.

Story of The Film :

Vijay lives a wealthy lifestyle in India along with his wife, Amrita, to who he has been married to for 27 years, and a daughter, Ritu, who is now 18 years of age. The family has a vast estate, where Vijay likes to trek around indulging in his sole passion – photography. Amrita, who was an accomplished Kuchipudi dancer, she even won two gold medals, gave up her passion to look after the family. This holiday, Ritu brought along a friend, Jia, to this household. Jia, quite childish, now lives with her divorcée mom in Brisbane, Australia, resents her lifestyle, especially after her mom started living with another man. When Rita sprains her ankle, both Vijay and Jia are thrown into each other’s company. Amrita notices that Vijay suddenly starts singing to himself, then bursting into uncontrollable fits of laughter. Then all of a sudden, Ritu asks Jia to leave the household, but is prevented by Vijay. Things spiral out of control when Amrita’s brother, Shridhar, arrives for a short visit, and finds out that Vijay and Jia have pledged their love for each other. Production :

The film was shot in 20 days in Munnar, Kerala. The claim that it was inspired by Vladimir Nabokov’s Lolita was denied by Amitabh Bachchan in the CNN IBN TV show Unspoken relationships – Nishabd special (3 March 2007).

Nishabd Movie Review :

This film review are Mostly Positive from Critics, IMDB Public Reviewing site give 5.4 Star Out Of 10 Star with Reviewers are 1575.

This movie did not give Mr. Bachchan justice. He is a great actor and I was very disappointed in the movie and there was not much plot to it. Matter a fact this is the first movie I have ever been disappointed in with him in it. It starts out with her coming to his home with his daughter and he is a photographer. He takes pictures of her in the garden has she’s hosing herself down. He is a sixty year old man that has nothing to do but to take pictures of this girl.

The movie makes no sense. The whole movie is about her chasing him around and her telling him how much she cares about him. Then his daughter falls and he has to take this girl around places so she is not bored and is daughter finds out. I just didn’t think this movie was up to Bachchan’s standards.

He is better than this movie. I always pictured him as an upstanding person and then I seen him in this movie and I couldn’t picture him in this movie. The movie didn’t hold my interest at all. I couldn’t wait until the movie was over. And you won’t either.
