Story of the film
At the start of the movie, journalist Vijay Kumar / VK is being held in New Delhi Central Prison despite being found guiltless. In the prison, he makes friends with four other prisoners named Vishnu, Ananth, Siddique, and Appu.
On the eve of Republic Day, Deshbandhu Sharma & Shankar, two influential politicians, visit and humiliate VK due to their historical rivalry and deprive him of his opportunity to be set free. When his coworkers ask him why, he turns around again. VK is a brave journalist who consistently rejects anarchy and immorality from a few years ago.
He knows Maria Fernandes, a classical dancer, and he likes her. When VK decides to alter reality, Deshbandhu & Shankar trick her and assault her. Knowing this, the brutes use fabricated charges to capture him. In court, using fictitious alibis and Maria as leverage, they declare him mad and commit him to an asylum. As a result, he experiences torture and becomes disabled. They move him to Central Jail afterward.
Time passes, VK is freed, and with Maria’s help, he starts a newspaper called New Delhi Diary while traveling with his sister Uma and her boyfriend Suresh, both of whom are trained journalists. By fabricating the fictional journalist Viswanath and releasing his colleagues from their captivity, VK frames revenge. They immediately begin their murderous rampage, which VK immediately reports in his newspaper and which succeeds. The paper quickly becomes India’s top publication. Suresh and Uma have suspicions. Due to VK’s popularity, Deshbandhu and Shankar are pushing for his amity, which he accepts.
Suresh sees the simultaneous murder of Deshbandhu by VK’s crew while gathering evidence. VK thus gives the order to also kill him. Siddique & Appu pass away during that process. When VK discovers Uma’s passion for Suresh and saves him, she overhears the conversation and rebels against him. Then, once Ananth and Vishnu engage Shankar in combat, they move to kill him, and VK publishes. VK is depressed despite knowing he will survive, but he refuses to give up the spirit. Shankar taunts him as Maria removes him at that point. The movie concludes with VK & Maria carrying out their sentence.
