Story of the film
When the movie begins, India is still ruled by the British in the early 20th century. Raja Azad Singh retrieves the jewels that the British soldiers had stolen by stopping them from looting an Indian fort. When his wife, Rani Durga, gives birth to a son, Raju, Raja names him “mard” (man), a sign of bravery and power. The soldiers are reprimanded after Lady Helena, a compassionate Englishwoman, exposes their misdeeds.
General Dyer, Inspector Simon, and Harry, the local physician, are English officers who plot to kidnap Raja. Raja becomes sedated by Harry, which makes him easy to arrest and confine. After their horse transports the infant Raju to an orphanage, Rani Durga manages to flee but is shot. Rani Durga becomes a washerwoman and loses her speech when Raju is adopted by the wife of a blacksmith. As a result of his treachery, Harry is made mayor.
Raju becomes a strong adult and works as a tanga driver. Ruby, Harry’s daughter, falls in love with him after he confronts her about her careless actions. A slum is demolished by Harry and General Dyer, but Raju organizes the locals to fight back. Lady Helena steps in to halt the demolition and free Raju from custody. Harry is unable to bribe Raju and get rid of him.
The son of General Dyer, Danny, is responsible for several evil activities, such as the use of slave labor, blood camps, and the detention of Raja Azad Singh. After discovering his ancestry, Raju decides to save his father. After Raju’s adoptive parents are killed by Danny, Raju launches an attack on the camp. Danny sets up a gladiatorial match between Raju and his father after trapping Raju. During the struggle, they become aware of one another and turn on their captors.
In the decisive conflict, Raju and Raja vanquish the evildoers, save Lady Helena and Rani Durga, and guarantee Danny, Harry, and their allies’ destruction. The reunion of Raju and Ruby with Raju’s parents at the end of the movie represents the beginning of India’s freedom movement.

Music for Mard was composed by Anu Malik. The six-track soundtrack CD was made available on T-Series on June 7, 1985. This is one of the movies in which Kishore Kumar chose not to sing for Amitabh Bachchan, Coolie, or Naseeb because Bachchan declined to make a guest appearance in a movie that Kishore produced.
The film Music composer is Anu Malik while the lyricists are Indivar and Prayag Raj.
