Kasoor is a 2001 Indian Hindi suspense thriller film producer under Mukesh Bhatt’s Vishesh Entertainment Ltd. and directer by Vikram Bhatt. It features Aftab Shivdasani in his second Bollywood appearance and Lisa Ray in her Bollywood debut.Ray’s voice was dubbed by Divya Dutta.The film also stars Apoorva Agnihotri, Irrfan Khan and Ashutosh Rana in supporting roles. It was released on 2 February 2001.The film is an unofficial remake of the 1985 Hollywood film Jagged Edge but the last sequence has been taken from another Hollywood movie What Lies Beneath.

Story of The Film :

Shekar Saxena is arrested and charged with the murder of his wife, Priti Saxena. Shekar strongly contends that he is innocent, and that the murder was committed by someone else. His lawyer, Simran Bhargav, is sympathetic and not only believes him but also successfully defends and gets him acquitted. After his acquittal, she starts having doubts about his innocence, and must protect herself, before she becomes his next victim.

The music of Kasoor was composed by Nadeem-Shravan. The lyrics were penned by Sameer. Singer such as Kumar Sanu, Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik lent their voices for the album. The soundtrack became very popular upon release. The soundtrack attained number 1 position on the all-time music sales music chart of 2001. The soundtrack received a rating of 8/10 from Planet Bollywood.

Kasoor Movie Review :

This film review are Mostly Positive from Critics, IMDB Public Reviewing site give 6.0 Star Out Of 10 Star with Reviewers are 892.

Kasoor is a step outside the norm for the hindi film indusrty. Refreshingly intelligent and beautifully directed Kasoor is a must see movie. Excellent acting from both leads who were both relatively new to Bollywood. The suspense was intense as was the character portrayed by Aaftab Shivdassani. Liza Ray’s voice seems a bit awkward but her acting make up for it. The musical score was surprisingly different.

The tracks were different from the usual romantic ballads. The atmosphere of professionalism is apparent. The movie is better suited for viewers with refined tastes as this movie is more subtle than the average hindi flick. A thriller to the last second people who don’t usually like Indian movies will like this one.

Critics Rating by Taran Adarsh, from Bollywood Hungaam give 2.5 star out of 5 Star.
