Story of the film
The movie is set in contemporary India and is based on the ancient Indian epic Ramayana. The god Hanuman, who is portrayed by Manoj Kumar, is the devotee of Rama. He comes to earth at the latter’s command and meets a wretched father named Dasaratha, who is named after Rama’s father in the epic; other family members have similar names. Dasrath’s sons and daughter-in-law are causing him distress. The film’s central premise is how Hanuman resolves this issue.
