Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl is an 2020 Bollywood Biopic drama Movie.The directer is first time Directorial debut- Sharan Sharma and producer is Karan Johar under his banner of Dharma Productions. This film leading stars cast Are Janhvi Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi and Angad Bedi, and is inspired by the life of Gunjan Saxena, first female along-with Srividya Rajan Indian Air Force pilot and first Indian woman air-force pilot in combat along-with Srividya Rajan. Gunjan Saxena Movie was announced on 26th December, 2018, when Janhvi shared the first look to Movie on her Instagram account. This film shooting started on 20 February 2019 in Lucknow.Earlier this film is releasing on 13th March, 2020 But Corona Pandemic affect the release and now releasing online.
Film Shooting commenced in February 2019 and was wrapped up in October; it was extensively filmed across Lucknow.Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the film was unable to release theatrically and was picked up for distribution by Netflix. It was released globally on 12 August 2020.

Film Story :
The film chronicles the incredible real life story, struggles and gender based discrimination faced by former Indian Air Force pilot Gunjan Saxena (played by Janhvi Kapoor). Known as the ‘Kargil Girl’, Gunjan was honoured with the Shaurya Vir award for displaying exemplary courage during the Kargil war in 1999.

- The first poster of Janhvi Kapoor was unveiled on 29 August 2019.The Movie is schedule to be released in theaters on 13 March 2020 but coronavirus pandemic affect the release of the film and due to lock-down theaters are closed so film is releasing online. This film is releasing on Netflix
- The film was scheduled to release theatrically on 13 March 2020. However, that release postponed to 24 April 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.It was then pulled from the schedule. Netflix later acquired distribution rights to the film and on 9 June 2020. Netflix released a teaser video introducing Gunjan Saxena and announcing that the film was premiered on 12 August 2020 on Netflix.
Marketing:
In a teaser poster announcing the film’s 12 August 2020 release date on Netflix, Johar and Dharma Productions were not mentioned. Commentators believed this was due to nepotism allegations against Johar.

Gunjan Saxena Movie Review :
Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl is about the tough journey of India’s first female combat aviator. The year is 1984. Gunjan Saxena (Riva Arora), who is around 9 years old, is travelling with her family in an aeroplane. She gets a chance to enter the cockpit and experience the magic of flying an aircraft. She decides immediately that she wants to be a pilot. In 1989, Gunjan (Janhvi Kapoor) passes her Class 10 exams with flying colours. She tells her family – father Anup Saxena (Pankaj Tripathi), mother Kirti Saxena (Ayesha Raza Mishra) and solider brother Anshuman (Angad Bedi) – about her plans of quitting further studies so that she can fulfil her dream. Kirti and Anushman disapprove but Anup tells her to go ahead. However, when she applies at a flying school, she realizes that the rules have changed and she’ll have to study till graduation. She applies again after five years but by then, the fees for the course have increased to Rs. 10 lakhs, a figure which is unaffordable for the Saxena family. Gunjan is dejected. Anup then asks her to apply in the Indian Air Force, which has recently started a course to get female officers. Gunjan applies and emerges as the only one who gets selected. She then successfully completes her training and then heads to Udhampur Air Force Station in Jammu and Kashmir. Here, she faces massive discrimination over her gender. The fellow officers refuse to fly with her, fearing that she might jeopardize the sortie and crash. Her flight commanding officer Dileep Singh (Vineet Kumar Singh) makes it clear that she’s not equal in the camp. And the commanding officer Gautam Sinha (Manav Vij) also appears to be strict and not-so-understanding. What happens next forms the rest of the film.
