Story of the film
An aspiring chef, Bablu is a gregarious and naive young guy who always prays to God when he has the chance. Meanwhile, the cops are after Manu, a massive mobster who is an identical replica of Bablu. When he is ultimately discovered, he quickly avoids being taken into custody.
Bablu meets Sonia Kapoor, the lovely and attractive hotel food manager, in a taxi on his way to a job interview. After arguing about who should call for a cab, they both realize that they are headed to the same location—Bablu is meeting Sonia for a job interview. After showcasing his culinary prowess, Bablu ultimately secures a job at the hotel as head chef. It is then that he meets the owner, who harbors affection for Sonia despite her non-recognition. The manager makes every effort to separate Bablu and Sonia and have Bablu fired during the entire movie. Bablu develops feelings for Sonia as they collaborate on projects together.
When Bablu tries to show his affection to Sonia one day by taking her out to lunch, he is detained because the cops think he’s Manu. Before Bablu can reveal his actual identity, Manu finds out about his clone. After receiving an identity card from the police, Bablu returns home to find Manu and his cronies waiting for him. Manu tries to kill Bablu and replace him, but Bablu is forced to accept Manu’s threats that they must trade places if Manu wants to survive and be with his loved ones.
Manu starts flirting with Sonia under the guise of Bablu because of his womanizing tendencies. However, Sonia discovers that Manu’s conduct has radically altered and rejects him. Manu keeps trying to flirt with her while growing increasingly annoyed. Lily, Manu’s girlfriend, falls in love with Bablu’s “new” attitude and attempts to flirt with him at the same time, pretending to be Manu. Because he is deeply in love with Sonia, Bablu also rejects her. In any case, Bablu begins imparting moral values to Lily and the other members of Manu’s group.
One day, while still pretending to be Bablu, Manu shows up at his residence and notices that the light is on. He starts shouting out for him, thinking it’s the actual Bablu inside, but he’s shocked to realize it’s Bablu’s mother. Since Manu, who is impersonating Bablu, is calling out for Bablu, she assumes that Bablu is intoxicated and reprimands him, telling him to go to bed. Bablu and Manu soon revert to their previous roles, since the police had given up trying to find Manu. When Manu makes up his mind to murder Bablu, he summons Sonia and Bablu’s mother to a dilapidated and deserted place where he plans to trap them in marriage.
In the meantime, Bablu discovers he has lost a significant amount of money and, believing Manu is responsible, tracks him down—falling into Manu’s trap as well. Simultaneously, the police have located the person they believe to be Manu, but is actually Bablu, and they are following him to the abandoned building. Though they believe Manu to be Bablu, Sonia steps in and informs the police they have the wrong person. The police arrive before Bablu. Suddenly, the genuine Bablu shows up at the scene and identifies the other man as Manu, telling the police so. More uncertainty arises when Manu resurfaces and claims to be Bablu.
Bablu’s mother asserts that whoever pulls her to their respective side is the actual Bablu, claiming that Bablu was a well-known wrestler before his arrival in Mumbai. When Bablu notices his mother hurt, he releases his grip and lets Manu win. Bablu and Manu start tugging. The actual Bablu, according to Bablu’s mother, would never have allowed his mother to suffer, leading Manu to assume that this indicates he is “Bablu” and that the real Bablu will now be shot and murdered. After revealing that he is armed, Manu attempts to shoot Bablu, but Lily kills him from behind. She confesses that she chose to rescue the day because Bablu taught her how to be a nice person. Even though Lily is in love with Bablu, the movie ends happily as Bablu and Sonia tie the knot.
