Dhamaal is a 2007 Indian Bollywood comedy film directer is Indra Kumar and producer is Ashok Thakeria. The film stars Sanjay Dutt, Ritesh Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, Aashish Chaudhary and Javed Jaffrey in the lead roles while Asrani, Sanjay Mishra, Vijay Raaz, Manoj Pahwa and Tiku Talsania are featured in supporting roles. It is heavily inspired from the 2001 American comedy film Rat Race directed by Jerry Zucker (which in turn was inspired by Stanley Kramer’s 1963 classic It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World). It is the first installment of the Dhamaal film series. The film was remade in 2008 as the Kannada film Mast Maja Maadi.

In 2011, the film spawned a sequel, under the title of Double Dhamaal, with the lead cast reprising their roles.

A third reboot sequel, under the name Total Dhamaal was released in February 2019, with only Deshmukh, Warsi and Jaffrey returning with an entirely new cast and a fresh story, having no connections to Dhamaal and Double Dhamaal.

Story of The Film :

Four slackers and con-men namely: Boman Contractor, who lives a wealthy lifestyle with his eccentric dad, Nari, who loves his antique car more than his son, and asks his son to leave when he damages the car; hot-headed Aditya and dim-witted Manav, orphaned brothers; and Deshbandhu Roy, a trickster who wears a magnetized belt; share a room with a lenient landlady, who eventually gives up on them and kicks them out. After a number of con tricks, the group are arrested by the Police, but released in the countryside. At this point they witness a car plummet down a cliff, with it’s sole occupant, Bose, an underworld don, who, before dying, tells them that he has hidden 10 Crore Rupees in cash in the St. Sebastian’s Garden, Goa, and if they find it, it is their’s to keep. Sequel :

A sequel named Double Dhamaal was released in 2011. The third film of the franchise was named Total Dhamaal and released in 2019. Both the films became huge box office hits.

This film review are Mostly Positive from Critics, IMDB Public Reviewing site give 6.9 Star Out Of 10 Star with Reviewers are 234.

Inder Kumar’s Dhamaal,is on of the cleanest and funniest movies to come out in Bollywood.

Nowadays,we hardly get to see squeaky clean comedy movies.

Dhamaal is a little gem which deserves a watch.This movie was not promoted heavily but soon gain popularity among people and became a super hit at box-office.

Direction by Inder Kumar is very good.

Dialogs are very good.

Performance wise-Javed Jaffery tops with an enthralling performance.Ritesh Deshmukh is very good.Ditto for Arshad Warsi and Ashish Chaudhary.Sanjay Dutt too is excellent.Asrani and Sanjay Mishra are hilarious.Prem Chopra is good in a brief role.

Overall Dhamaal deserves more than once viewing because it is one of those comedies which we hardly get.
