Review
“Dashmi,” written and directed by Marathi director Shantanu Anant Tambe, is a poignant yet timely examination of a profoundly problematic social issue. A group of people take matters into their own hands by kidnapping well-known people who are suspected of raping children at the start of this compelling drama. A tense game of cat and mouse breaks out between these vigilantes and resolute investigation officials under the leadership of ACP Krishan Kant (Aadil Khan) as they release tapes of the accused admitting to their crimes. The film explores issues of justice, morality, and societal accountability against the backdrop of Dashmi (Dussehra), which is approaching.
Throughout the movie, Tambe skillfully handles the subject matter as he negotiates the difficulties of vigilantism and the quest for justice. A strong emotional bond with the characters and the fundamental problems they face is made possible by the simple narrative. However, because of its formulaic storyline and excessively drawn-out ending, the second half of the movie falls short of its thrilling and captivating first half.
