This movie is entirely based on true incidents, and a real life story of 10th Guru of Sikhs, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, and his Four Sons.
The film was released on 11 November 2016 with Positive critics reviews and also Big Hit at the Box office. Collected 2cr in its 1st weekend in India, making it the highest grossing animated film in the country to date.

- Rohit Vats of Hindustan Times gave 2.5 star out of 5 star. He appreciates the voice over and certain portions of the film but criticised the running time and the animation.
- Jasmine Singh of The Tribune who gave 4.5 stars from 5 star to the first film gave just 2 stars to the film stating that “Chaar Sahibzaade- Rise of Banda Singh Bahadur sets high standard in animation, but in terms of story and screenplay the film could not blow the victory trumpet.”.
- Nihit Bhave of The Times of India gave the film 3 stars out of 5 star and appreciates the story but criticised the animation as he felt that ” It is like watching Baahubali through a Chota Bheem filter.”
