Bunty Aur Babli is a 2005 Indian Bollywood crime comedy directer is Shaad Ali, with Aditya Chopra as writer and producer. The Movie stars Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukerji in the title roles, along with Amitabh Bachchan, marking the first motion picture starring the Bachchan father-son duo together. Bachchan Jr. and Mukerji play con-artist partners-in-crime, Bunty and Babli, while Bachchan Sr. plays JCP Dashrath, whose focus is solely to catch them.

The film’s music was composed by Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy, with lyrics done by Gulzar and Blaaze together, and released under the banner YRF Music. Released worldwide on 27 May 2005, Bunty Aur Babli was a commercial success, grossing 634 million at the worldwide box office on a budget of 120 million, and was the second highest-grossing Indian film of the year. The film earned 8 nominations at the 51st Filmfare Awards including Best Film, Best Actor for Bachchan Jr., Best Actress for Mukerji and Best Supporting Actor for Bachchan Sr. and won 3 – Best Music for Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Best Lyrics for Gulzar and Best Female Playback for Alisha Chinai, the latter two for the song “Kajra Re”.

A spiritual sequel under the title of Bunty Aur Babli 2 is set to be released in 2020.

The movie was remade in Telugu as Bhale Dongalu starring Tharun and Ileana D’Cruz.

Story of The Film :

Rakesh (Abhishek Bachchan) is a man of schemes, ideas, invention and restlessness. His small town begins to feel too small for his King size plans. In another part of India crinkle nosed small town girl, Vimmi (Rani Mukerji) doesn’t want to become just another young marriageable girl. In her mind she is the “Miss India” that the world can’t get enough of. So, they decide to fly the coup. Somewhere along their individual journeys, Rakesh and Vimmi meet. And in a moment of mistaken truth, the legend of Bunty and Babli are born. And the world gets turned on its head!. We follow the duo through caper after caper, in which they are spiritual gurus; bureaucrat and secretary, gangster and moll; business partners; hen pecked husband and pregnant wife, vagabonds and caught-in-a-downpour lovers.We watch them run rings around rajahs, power brokers, shaadi bandwallahs, millionaires, investors, leaders, ministers, elephants, explorers, hoteliers, chai boys and one very very upset policeman, DCP Dashrath Singh (Amitabh Bachchan).

A. R. Rahman was initially approached to compose the film’s music, but he declined due to his busy schedule. The soundtrack includes 6 tracks composer the musical trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and was released on 13 April 2005 by Yash Raj Music. The lead actors Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukerji danced to the tunes of the album. The lyrics were penned by Gulzar and Blaaze. According to the Indian trade website Box Office India, with around 19,00,000 units sold, this film’s soundtrack album was the year’s second highest-selling.

Bunty Aur Babli Movie Review :

This film review are Mostly Positive from Critics, IMDB Public Reviewing site give 6.2 Star Out Of 10 Star with Reviewers are 6306.

Overall this movie is just about average . Some scenes are really humorous like Rani and Abhishek meeting at the rail station. Rani as usual sizzles and Abhi gives a fairly OK performance. Amitabh is not in his element except for the dance sequence “kajrare”. Somewhat his performance can be termed as overacting. This man ( Amitabh ) is overworked and his age shows. He is burning at both ends. It is high time he slows down a bit.

And now the piece de resistance of the movie : That is the music. The music is very good and all the songs are quite hummable. The music is quite experimental and unique.

Critics Rating by Taran Adarsh, from Bollywood Hungama give 1.5 star out of 5 Star.
