Story of the film
The retired and dreaded criminal Bhaiyya Ji (Manoj Bajpayee) sets out to seek retribution against the powerful Gujjar who is responsible for his younger brother’s untimely death over a minor quarrel. He rallies his loyal friends by inciting a movement of retaliation that threatens the whole criminal world.
This crime film, which was directed by Apoorv Singh Karki, stars Manoj Bajpayee as the title character, a former criminal who is ‘Robin Hood ka baap’. The film opens with a heartbreaking moment in which Bhaiyyaji realizes his brother was brutally murdered after witnessing him being burned at a police station.
The initial hope of a complex plot revealing the murder’s true cause, however, wanes as the story goes on. It follows a well-known Bollywood pattern from the 1990s, complete with spectacular action scenes and dialogue. Though extravagant heroics and unrealistic circumstances have all been seen too often, potboilers that provide action-packed excitement are ideal for a guilty pleasure. The amusement quickly wears off, and one wishes topics like retribution and atonement were explored in greater depth.
The action scenes are skillfully coordinated and visually beautiful, even with their predictable components. The battle sequences are made more intense by using slow motion and macro views. Although Apoorv Singh Karki’s directing is mediocre, the film may have been more engaging with a better storyline and a more concentrated plot. With flashbacks to the younger brother’s recollections and their mother reminding Bhaiyyaji of his vow to get revenge for his murder, the second part of the film likewise becomes monotonous.
Manoj Bajpayee excels throughout the movie, moving fluidly between scenes of action and poignant emotional moments. In certain instances, he even injects a hint of humor, demonstrating his range as an actor. Zoya Hussain, a national shooting champion and Bhaiyyaji’s fiancée, offers a lot of assistance when needed. The adversaries, Suvinder Vicky and Jatin Goswami, give suitably ominous performances, and Vipin Sharma plays the dishonest police officer with conviction.

Review
Critics gave Bhaiyya Ji varying ratings.
News 18 gave Manoj Bajpayee’s performance a rating of three out of five.
Additionally, Jansatta gave Bajapyee a 3 out of 5 rating in its evaluation.
News 24 gave the film a watch rating as well, complimenting Zoya Hussain and Surendra Vicky and gushing about Bajpayee’s performance. It stated, “Despite being 55, Manoj Bajpayee is excellent in this performance, giving the character reality with his Desi flair and seamlessly blending into the action sequences.
Based on a respectable first half and Manoj Bajpayee’s powerful performance, Bhaiyya Ji is a lackluster film, according to a Bollywood Hungama critic who gave it a 2.5-star rating.
A lot of other critics had less positive things to say about the movie. With an average rating of 5/10, 0% of the reviews from 5 critics are favorable on the review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes.
After outlining the idea, the story takes a predictable form, according to Anuj Kumar of The Hindu.
A movie with a one-line narrative deserved a lot more pizzazz, whistle-worthy dialogue, and a big-than-life, unbeatable protagonist, according to Rediff.com reviewer Deepa Gahlot, who gave it a rating of two out of five stars. With a genuine spirit, Karki falls between two boats and crafts an action movie reminiscent of Rajinikanth (Bhaiyya Ji fights with a bidi in his mouth).
The performers portraying opponents do hold their own, according to Taher Ahmed’s rating of two stars for the Deccan Herald. However, the action sequences are clichéd, and the directing is unimpressive.
Bajpayee is in Rajinikanth and Balakrishna territory here, playing an aging but powerful hero, said Abhimanyu Mathur of Daily News and Analysis, who lauded the actor’s performance. Additionally, the actor demonstrates why he is the most gifted performer of his generation.
According to ABP News’s Amit Bhatia, “Bhaiyya Ji” feels like a movie that would have been outstanding twenty to twenty-five years ago. It seems outdated in the age of realistic filmmaking.
The majority of Bhaiyya Ji is bark and no bite, according to Kartik Bhardwaj of Cinema Express, who scored the film two stars out of five.
WION’s Pragati Awasthi also left a bad review, stating that you won’t need to use much of your brain while viewing this, so put it on snooze mode. This kind of film necessitates a mental shutdown because of the irrational acts depicted on screen.
Bhaiyya Ji includes several characters and sequences that, in a similar vein, go nowhere, according to Nandini Ramnath of Scroll.in.
