Review of the film :
This film reviews are mostly mix from critics, few appreciate the makers while others criticize the makers and actors.
Critics reviews :
- Critics from Times of India gave 2.5 star out of 5 star and stated that “‘Bewakoofiyaan’ has its khoobiyaan but mostly it has majbooriyaan where the story is concerned. It tells you not to overspend. Yet the script is not as ‘penny wise’, The couple lack chemistry, and they fight and make-up quicker than a quickie. Even the music is unexciting. This isn’t Sonam’s best, but she looks every bit the fashionista, Ayushmann is charming but desperately needs to step out of his comfort zone. It is a sheer joy to watch Rishi Kapoor, who makes even stupidity seem delightful.”
- Anupama Chopra from Hindustan Times reviewed the film by writing that, “This is one of those films that doesn’t either offend or engage. It just goes on, in a bland, listless manner, until we hit happily ever after.” She praised Ayushman’s performance, saying, “The strongest performance here is Ayushmann’s. His anger and frustration at losing the good life are palpable.” Concerning Sonam Kapoor’s performance, she said, “Sonam looks lovely. She attempts to imbue Mayera with some texture but it’s an uphill climb.”
- Shubhra Gupta of Indian express rated only 1 star from 5 star and highly criticize the film by writing that “Neither Rishi Kapoor nor the couple- of-films-old Ayushmann Khurrana manage to lift off the screen: they are as flat as the film.”
- Taran Adarsh from Bollywood Hungama gave 3.5 star out of 5 star and appreciate the makers by reviewing the film “pleasant surprise” with “super performances of Rishi, Ayushmann and Sonam, watertight writing, skilled direction and dollops of humor.”
- India today critics Faheem Ruhani rated the 1.5 star from 5 and stated that “t would be a bewkoofi to spend your money on this one in a theatre. On TV, you could give it a try but just for that little crackling nok-jhok between Khurrana and Kapoor.”
- Deepanjana Pal from First post stated that “Bewakoofiyaan throws in everything it can to hold on to our attention. Sonam Kapoor in a bikini, some lip locks, Rishi Kapoor in a comic role, a shirtless Ayushmann Khurrana — but none of this can redeem the film’s lopsided script and bland acting performances. Bewakoofiyaan is pointless, go watch Queen instead”
