Story of the film
Anand Mathur attends Mithibai College of Arts and has a middle-class lifestyle in the suburbs of Bombay with his sister Asha, retired magistrate, and widowed father. When he triumphs in the college’s annual singing competition, Rama Kumar, his closest opponent, is upset. After thereafter, he finds out that Asha is in love with Vinod, the brother of Rama, and arranges for their union. Following the marriage, he learns that Vinod, Rama, and their aunt Leela had anticipated getting a sizable dowry and are now pressing Asha to acquire a refrigerator and some cash. Anand gets them a fridge and makes financial arrangements.
Then, though in vain, Vinod and his family begin to sow miscommunications between Asha and Anand. Vinod is increasingly avaricious and envious of Asha, and he forbids her from seeing her brother and father. After Anand’s father dies, Vinod succeeds in getting a motorbike from Anand, but he keeps putting distance between the two of them, to the point where Asha thinks Anand is up to no good. Then one day they find out that Anand stole money from the Santa Cruz branch of Vijaya Bank, his employment. They later find out that Anand met his demise in an accident during his escape.
Unbeknownst to them Anand is still alive, and he is preparing to exact revenge on Vinod for humiliating him. With the assistance of rich smuggler Kailashnath Rana, whose life he spared, Anand is now posing as Rana himself, befriended and seduced Rama, and married her. A.P. Lall, Kailashnath’s worst adversary, kidnaps him before he can finish his vengeance and holds him captive until Kailashnath himself shows up to negotiate his release.
