Story of the film
The wealthy Seth Gopal Das has just one son, Raj. His mother passed away while he was a little boy, making his early and adolescent years quite lonely. In addition to gradually separating from his father, he begins drinking as an adult. In the same city as his father, Raj moves into a lavish house. He periodically visits Seth Gopal Das’s main mansion. Raj meets a girl named Rupa while traveling to a snow-capped peak. Rupa is shielded from the flesh trade by him.
He then makes the decision to drive her home, but he is compelled to remain with her in a cottage because of the poor state of the roads.
Raj starts to shiver as the weather gets chilly, so Rupa chooses to hold him and blow air from her mouth into his to keep him safe. She is able to bring him back to life in this way. Raj claims in the morning that she should not have done this for his welfare throughout the night. Rupa claims that she didn’t mind doing what she ultimately did since she was thankful to him for saving her from having to sell her body. Raj is pleased to hear this and asks who she lives with. She responds that she has lived alone in that location since she must send money to her father in a far-off hamlet.
Following Raj’s question about if she wants to stay with him, she accepts. Additionally, Rupa promises Raj that he will not start drinking while she is in his life since they are in love. When he returns home, he meets Bihari, who has come at his father’s request to take him to his house because some visitors are expected. After agreeing to join them for dinner that evening, Raj discovers that his father has arranged his engagement to a different girl.
Raj finds out that Gopal Das arranged his marriage with Jamuna Das’s daughter in order to receive a sizable dowry for his son’s wedding. He is also in desperate need of money because of an event in which one of his ships, which was not insured, sank. Raj is against marrying the daughter of Jamuna Das. Bihari tells Gopal Das that Raj has brought a female to his home and is interested in marrying her, which is why Raj is not marrying the girl of his choosing. Gopal Das chooses to directly meet with Rupa and informs her of his financial predicament.
He explains how he and Raj would benefit from Raj marrying the lady of his choosing. Rupa is asked by Gopal whether she is not more worried about Raj’s well-being. If so, she should persuade him to wed the other girl instead of marrying him.
Rupa persuades Raj to marry her, and she subsequently kills herself following the ceremony. Despite his disillusionment, Raj keeps the truth about Rupa from his wife. He feels depressed and upset with his father for all of this. However, he and his wife have a happy married life in accordance with the pledge he made to Rupa. Soon after, his wife conceives and gives birth to a boy. She passed away as a result of delivery difficulties. Raj now starts drinking.
In addition, Raj moves into his father’s house permanently and has a monument erected in his home in honor of Rupa. Gopal sends the young lad to study and attend college overseas since he is tired of Raj’s drinking habits.
Eighteen years go by. Raj has become a heavy drinker. In the meantime, one gloomy night, unintentionally brought on by a lot of rain, a girl visits Raj’s residential home to ask for assistance staying there for a day. When Raj looks at the girl, he notices that she looks just like Rupa.
She introduces herself as Deepa, and Raj lets her spend the night at his residence. Early in the morning, Deepa leaves his house without her handbag. Raj goes to the address mentioned on her card available in the purse, to return it to her. Deepa makes money as a club dancer by doing shows at the hotel. Raj begins to stay at the hotel more frequently. As word gets out, Gopal hears it. Even after Rupa’s death eighteen years ago, Raj has yet to forgive his father. Therefore, Bihari advises Gopal that Deepa, who resembles Rupa, ought to wed Raj. In order to bring Raj’s dull, lonely existence back to life, Gopal chooses to approach Deepa for her permission.
However, he hears a discussion between Deepa and her friend about how she has deceived Raj and how Raj has started to see Deepa frequently before he even gets to her room. He is hesitant to marry Raj to Deepa after learning this. However, Gopal passed away unexpectedly that same day.
Vijay, Raj’s son, returns to India in a few days and joins his family’s shipping company. While visiting Kashmir for business, Vijay develops feelings for Barkha. Vijay makes the decision to only marry Barkha in the future. However, Vijay chooses to announce Deepa and his father Raj’s marriage after noticing how depressed his father is and discovering that Raj is in love with Deepa.
Deepa consents to marry Raj only if she is deemed the owner of all of Gopaldas’ assets and receives a transfer of Vijay’s portion. Vijay chooses not to assert any future property rights since he would rather consider his father’s welfare. After that, Raj and Deepa get married. Deepa begins being aloof toward Raj and puts him in a lot of awkward circumstances. Deepa responds that Raj lacks the right to question her when he asks her why she has been acting indecently in the home ever since they got married.
After a few months, she falls pregnant and begins to put pressure on Vijay, telling him that if he marries someone else and attempts to become a parent himself, she will not continue with Raj and that it will damage the family’s reputation.

Review
Since the director’s last film starring Khanna, Paapi Pet Ka Sawaal Hai, was a box office success, there were great hopes for this one. However, Awara Baap did not do well at the box office. The song gained popularity.
