Producer/ Director Raj Kanwar initially wanted to make a movie with Sunny Deol & Padmini Kohlapure in the mid 80s, which was related to rebirth, but planning didn’t work out when Padmini take a break from movies after marriage.
Then movie was initially named as Mohabbat Aur Karz in the year 1988; later, director Raj Kanwar started the film in 1999 as Saath Pichle Janam Ka, with lead cast are Saif Ali Khan and Mahima Chaudhary, but Saif and Mahima asked for more payment that was beyond the budget due to which Raj Kanwar postpone the movie.
At the end the movie was begun in 2002 with newstars Arya Babbar and Amrita Rao as a lead actor in Ab Ke Baras movie.

This film review are mostly mix from Critics, Sify.com Critics give 3 star out of 5 star and Stated that “Even though he could have handled the story well, Raj Kanwar has gone wrong, as there is not an ounce of novelty in the film.The positive points are Pappu Verma’s action and Ishwar Bidri’s cinematography. And if you want to see this film, only do so for the newcomers.

Both Arya and Amrita excel in their first ever roles, making you feel that they have been at it for years. Arya looks good, dances and fights well and is a very natural actor and same for Amrita.Negative Points are – through the movie and the audience knows what will story going on in every frame. The second half especially should have been lively but lets you down completely.”
