Khamoshiyan Movie trailer:
Story of the film
Novelist Kabir Malhotra moved to Kashmir in quest of an inspirational tale after his failing profession and love with Simran. Along the way, he makes a halt at a guesthouse owned by Meera Sharma Dhanrajgir, who is both gorgeous and mysterious. Jaidev Dhanrajgir, a sick man confined to his bed, is Meera’s husband. Strange apparitions are seen by Kabir on his first night there. After learning that Meera hasn’t left the house in two years, he finds himself drawn to her.
Now that he is in love, Kabir seeks to evict her from the residence. As they are leaving, a malevolent entity approaches their vehicle, resulting in an unfortunate collision. Kabir invites a Tantrik out of curiosity, and the Tantrik finds an evil presence in the house. He asserts that the deceased Jaidev’s spirit is present. Kabir realizes, remembering that Meera never saw Jaidev in person and that she spoke in a male voice over the phone. When he slips inside Jaidev’s chamber, he discovers that the latter is dozing. Meera, enraged at Kabir, orders him to go.
In addition to writing a love poem for Meera, Kabir comes back to apologize. After reading it, she realizes she is in love with him and gives him a quick kiss. She says she was involved in a hit-and-run case two years prior and fled to a small hamlet in Kashmir to avoid being arrested. There, she met wealthy businessman Jaidev. After falling in love, they tied the knot. She witnessed him praying to the devil and carrying out a ritualistic massacre one night. She attempted to flee, terrified and taken aback, but he seized her.
Jaidev was paralyzed below the waist after he fell off the balcony while trying to stop her. Later, he murdered himself and left Meera a note in which he declared that she would have to live in the house forever with his soul and that his lawyer would have to open a letter detailing how Meera had killed him and was responsible for the hit-and-run if she ever attempted to flee. She fools everyone into believing her husband is still alive by staying at the house with Jaidev’s soul.
When Kabir goes to steal the letter from the lawyer’s office, he discovers that Jaidev was lying and that there isn’t a lawyer. The two then intend to lay Jaidev’s body to rest. A sadistic-looking painting of Jaidev smiles as they cremate his body. He comes back to haunt Meera, capturing her in the picture. Seeking assistance, Kabir approaches the Tantrik, who happens to be a ghost as well. The Tantrik gives Kabir holy water and informs him that the painting is a doorway to the world of spirits. In order to allow Jaidev’s spirit to enter his body, Kabir must sip a drop of Jaidev’s blood during a fatal battle with a butterfly and wolf drawings.
After that, he ingests holy water, which causes Jaidev’s evil soul to vanish and releases Meera.

Production
Pre-Production
In the middle of 2014, the cast for Gurmeet Choudhary, Ali Fazal, and Sapna Pabbi was completed. It was announced in May 2014 that Gurmeet Choudhary would have a negative part in the movie. Actress Sapna Pabbi pledged to work on the movie as her first project under the three-film contract she signed with Vishesh Films in June 2014. Fazal revealed in an interview that he portrays a romantic writer in the movie with gray areas.
In an interview, producer Mahesh Bhatt said, “It will repackage and raise the bar for the horror genre in Bollywood with a recipe of great music, state-of-the-art digital effects, and a love story that gives back Mahal’s mysteriousness.”
Film Shooting
The film’s first schedule of filming started on June 5, 2014, and ran until August of the same year. The second schedule of filming for the movie was shot over 15 days in September 2014 in Kashmir. The producers were forced to move the filming from Kashmir to South Africa due to an excessive amount of flooding in that region. Film shooting started on October 21, 2014, in Cape Town. The pre-climax was shot in Cape Town’s Legacy Estates woodlands.

Khamoshiyan Movie Reviews:
The Indianization of Khamoshiyan doesn’t really work well, according to Shakti Shetty of Mid-Day.com, who also pointed out similarities between the film and Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho and Robert Zemeckis’ What Lies Beneath. Regarding the narrative’s pacing, Shetty observed that while the first part of the story built suspense through mystery-based subplots, the second part laboriously recounts historical events.
Fazal and Pabbi were deemed “decent” by Renuka Vyavahare of The Times of India, who gave the film 1.5 stars out of 5, noting that the horror portion was a complete failure, consisting of “standard scares, [an] over-stretched climax, formulaic ‘dark secrets’ and a clichéd story.”
Shubhra Gupta scored Khamoshiyan 1.5 stars out of five for The Indian Express, noting that the film does precisely what you would expect and plays out well-known erotic-horror-thriller elements.
