Shukriya Film Story

Thirty years ago Karam Jindal(Anupam Kher ) with his widowed mom, Gayatri, and wife, Sandhya(Rati Agnihotri), immigrated to London, England. Shortly thereafter Gayatri gets cancer and dies. Sandhya gives birth to two daughters, Anjali and Sanam(Shriya Saran). The Jindals accumulate wealth and are now one of the wealthiest families in London.

Anjali gets married to Akash, while Sanam is on the look-out for her beau. With Karam’s 60th birthday coming up, Anjali is busy with preparations for a grand party. Karam hopes to get Sanam married to Yash, his employee, who is like a son to him. Add to that is the inauguration of the “Gayatri Jindal Cancer Hospital” which is to be done on the same day.

With the preparations under way, Karam brings home a young man, Rohan “Ricky” Verma(Aftab Shivdasani), to live with them for a few days. Sanam has already met him and is quite friendly with him. She confides in her mom that she would like to marry Rohan, and her mom indicates that she approves of him. They get a shock when Karam forcefully opposes any alliance with Rohan, and refuses to disclose the reason. Only Karam knows that Rohan is not who he claims to be – he is Death himself – accompanying Karam during his last four days on Earth.

Review Of The Film :

Critics Rating by Taran Adarsh, from Bollywood Hungama, give 2 stars out of 5 stars.

Negative by Almost all critics and Also a Box office failure film.

Since I watched the movie Meet Joe Black with Pitt & Hopkins three years ago I enjoyed the story already. However, this theme is not an easy one to play out considering, the supernatural and concept of ‘angel of death’. Mere mortals acting this out could constitute a mocking of ideas some sincerely believe in. Even though Shukriya is no doubt broadly based on the same storylines as JoeBlack, it has however done more justice to the theme.

This film review is Mostly Negative by Critics, The IMDB Public Reviewing site gives it 5.2 Star Out Of 10 Star with Reviewers are 139.
