Policegiri movie is a 2013 Bollywood Hindi-language action-comedy film directer is K.S. Ravikumar and producer are T. P. Aggarwal and Rahul Aggarwal under banner of STAR Entertainment. The film is the official remake of the 2003 Tamil film Saamy, directer is Hari starring Vikram and Trisha Krishnan in the main role.
This film leading Stars cast are Sanjay Dutt, Prachi Desai and Prakash Raj. It is releasing on 5th July, 2013 with mostly negative critics reviews and also Box office unsuccessful film. Sanjay Dutt was in jail during the release of the movie. The film was rumored to be sequel of Thanedaar 1990 was also to be named Thanedaar 2 or Thanedaar Returns. After Sanjay Dutt recomendation the film to be re-named Policegiri.

Production :
The movie was rumored to be called Thanedaar – Part 2, planning sequel of to a previous hit movie of Sanjay Dutt did during his younger days. However Sanjay Dutt did not feel comfortable with the movie backing on the success of Thanedaar, considering the fact that the story was not written keeping in mind the original Thanedaar.
The directors and producers of the original Thanedaar were different. Subsequently, Sanjay Dutt suggested to brainstorm for another name. He suggested Policegiri and the unit was happy to call this movie Policegiri. Policegiri was actually not a word in use but something Sanjay Dutt created.
