Story of The Film :
After the passing of his parents, Karan resides with his Mumbai-based Chacha, who lives a middle-classed existence with his wife and 2 children. An Engineering student, Karan enrolls himself in Satara’s Jaigarh University and gets a room in a hostel. Upon his arrival itself he is subjected to extortion by a male named Akshay and dozens of senior-year males. When he resists, he is beaten and taken before their ring-leader, Feroz, who has deliberately been unsuccessful in his exams so that he can continue to live a lush life, is politically well-connected, and is expected to stand for local elections, and beaten even more in the presence of the hostel Warden, Sharad Saxena. He is unable to focus on his studies due to frequent beatings and public humiliations. He finds romance in the company of gorgeous Payal & moral support from fellow-victims, Vishnu Pandey, Bobby, and Nilesh. After a physical confrontation with Akshay, Feroz decides to leave Karan alone but continues ragging others …
Production :
On the topic of Mukesh Tiwari being a bit too old to be a cast as a college student, Manish Gupta responded, “Mukesh Tiwari has been cast on purpose due to his age. He is shown to be a guy who’s been failing for years together in order to remain in the university. He has a political agenda for being in the university. Using his clout as a student leader, he is attempting to enter state politics. The most shocking part is that guys like Mukesh Tiwari exist in real life. Each character in the film and each scene has been derived from heavy research and therefore has a base in reality.”
Respondents validated the director’s comments about the harsh realities:
Ajitesh Pathak said, “Innumberable examples of the Mukesh Tiwari character can be found in Kashi Vidyapeeth University in Banaras. How do you think leaders like Lalloo and Nitish Bhardwaj started their political journey. It was in University, where they just either keep failing or keep enrolling themselves in courses. People as old as 45 years old are still students. Excellent topic, Manish. I know there will be comparisons with Haasil and Gulaal, because of the premises of the subject, but I hope people see it as an entirely different subject, as it is truly unique.”
Srikanth added, “People like these do exist in real life. Osmania university, Hyderabad is one such place where a lot of students do one degree after another or they keep failing for number of years in order to stay at university.”

Hostel Movie Review :
This film review are Mostly Positive from Critics, IMDB Public Reviewing site give 6.9 Star Out Of 10 Star with Reviewers are 234.
There hasn’t been a student either in India or worldwide, that hasn’t been bullied at some stage in his life.
The effect this has on the victim has far reaching and unimaginable consequences. The first is isolation and the development inferiority complex. If not dealt with by a psychiatrist, can lead to the individual becoming a social outcast, and his or her hatred of society as a whole. His identity is also becoming slowly annihilated.
This individual will tend to avoid social gatherings and keep a low profile. He or she is easily angered and provoked by ridicule.
Another effect is of revenge. When this occurs, he or she will take the law into his own hands. When this happens, I feel it is too late to save him or her.
Also ragging in college totally disrupts the education of the victim. He cannot concentrate on his studies due to fear of his assailants and also of thoughts of revenge.
The teachings of Jesus Christ doesn’t come to play in the modern world. If you offer your enemy your cheek to be slapped, he will demolish your jaw with a “sledgehammer”. And anyways its a DOG-EAT-DOG world.
Who is to blame. First and foremost it is the parent or guardian of the victim. The administrative board of college is second. And third it is the government for not offering us any protection as a citizen.
Critics Rating by Taran Adarsh, from Bollywood Hungama give 1.5 star out of 5 Star.
