Fanaa is a 2006 Boollywood romantic drama thriller Movie directer Kunal Kohli and producer Yash Raj Films. The film starring Aamir Khan,Kajol,Rishi Kapoor, Tabu and Sharat Saxena in pivotal roles.
Khan plays the role of a tourist guide in New Delhi named Rehaan Khan, while Kajol plays a blind Kashmiri woman, Zooni Ali Beg. Both fall in love, but are separated by a terrorist attack that reportedly kills Rehaan. It is later revealed that he was not killed, but is in fact a Kashmiri insurgent whose real name is Rehaan Qadri, and is the mastermind behind the attacks. Seven years later, his organization, known as the “IKF”, sends him on a mission in Kashmir, where he once again, in a strange twist of fate, meets Zooni. It was Aamir Khan’s first movie as an anti-hero.
Fanaa was one of the most expensive Bollywood films during its time of release. The film’s title is derived from the Islamic Sufi term “fanaa”, meaning “destroyed” in Arabic, Persian, Urdu, and Hindi. The film was promoted with the tagline “Destroyed In Love…”. Khan and Kajol were put into a romantic pairing for the first time with this film. It also marked the comeback of Kajol, who was last seen in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham… (2001).
Fanaa was released on 26 May 2006. The film was banned in the state of Gujarat due to protests against Aamir Khan for his comments criticising the Gujarat government. Nevertheless, Fanaa received positive reviews from critics and became a commercial success.

Story of The Film :
Choices – to choose between right or wrong is simple, but what defines one’s life is the decision between the greater of two goods or the lesser of two evils. This is the advice that Zooni Ali Beg (Kajol) receives from her father just as she is about to venture out into the world of her own for the very first time. Little does she know that these very words will shape her life. Zooni, a blind Kashmiri girl, meets Rehan Qadri (Aamir Khan), a local Delhi tour guide and an incorrigible flirt. Her friends warn her against this good-for-nothing roadside Romeo, but she chooses to ignore them. It is now her time to discover life and love. Is this really the right choice? Rehan is fascinated by Zooni and wants her to see life as it should be seen, in its many colours. He promises her that the time spent with him will be the most precious in all her life. Zooni sees Delhi, life and love like she never has before, because of Rehan. What Zooni doesn’t know is that Rehan has another side of his life that he has kept from her – something that can not only change her life, but can also destroy it.
Film Shooting Locations :
Fanaa was originally planned to be shot in Kashmir before Kajol backed out due to the continuing insurgency in that region. The director chose to move the Kashmir segment to the Tatra Mountains in southern Poland, which also provides suitably snowy and mountainous terrain. It was filmed at historical locations in Delhi including the Red Fort, Jantar Mantar, Qutub Minar, Purana Qila, Rashtrapati Bhavan and Lodhi Gardens.
Fanaa Movie Songs / Music :
The music of Fanaa composed by Jatin-Lalit with Salim-Sulaiman providing the background score. The lyrics were penned by Prasoon Joshi. 5 songs are featured in the movie while the soundtrack contains 7 songs. This was the last film for which Jatin-Lalit composed as a duo (they split afterwards).
Gaurav Sathe of Planet Bollywood gave 8 stars stating, “Jatin-Lalit’s last offering doesn’t give us a DDLJ, a K2H2 or a K3G, but it is still a notch higher than some of the run-off-the-mill music we’ve been hearing as of late.” According to the Indian trade website Box Office India, the album sold 17,00,000 units.

This film review are Mostly Positive from Critics, IMDB Public Reviewing site give 7.2 Star Out Of 10 Star with Reviewers are 30,636.
Indeed this movie is worth watching for the on screen chemistry Aamir & Kajol portrays!I never expected Kajol to look so gorgeous and as for Aamir, he was looking really good….Besides their good looks,their acting was spectacular and should be applauded by everyone.Moreover, the brilliance in acting depicted by the supporting casts complemented the movie fabulously.Although the storyline might be ‘biasa’ (meaning normal/common) among love stories,it was worth watching for the cinematography and the bitter sweetness it instills in the heart as the love between Kajol & Aamir unfolds.Besides the poignancy it renders in the end, i would say it’s a must see for romance lovers!All in all, the cast & crew have done a remarkable job of the movie…!
